Nothing works, not even the lock button...

I went to start up my 2003 civic, at first a light comes on, it is a red exclamation (when i had turned the ignition), I wonder 'what the hell..' I give it another go and this time there isn't even the red light...I lost the manual :S The battery is new...It was working just fine at lunch time....I just don't know...there's only silence coming from my civic.

just tried again this time the red exclamation light was accompanied with a yellow DRL or something or other, i turned on the interior light and it was very dim and then it died....its the battery isn't it? It's fricken new.....wtf

Do you have headlights ..interior lights . any bells or dingers working ?.........bad battery or associated cables /wires... recheck battery and wiring

  • milespeed Nov 20, 2008

the battery is a *victim* also..you need to get to cause...the battery can be drained in many way..lost commonly is a aftermarket component like a radio/ alarm or gps system wired into it ....be a good detective and search for any modifications to the main battery/charging system as suspect ..be sure all lines are clean and tight (especially grounds)..good luck

  • milespeed Nov 20, 2008

also once you install a new /fresh charged battery first thing is to look for suspect lights on or power drains ..chargers ..cigar lighter accessories, trunk or glove box lights not going off etc.....
there is a parasitic leak somewhere to be found here or problem will continue

2003 Honda Civic has check engine and oil light on without putting key in after connecting battery.

Question moved to model category.

All sorts of ideas here. You need an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to sort that mess out.

You could try a reset again.

Disconnect both battery leads for 10 minutes. Hold positive and negative together for 2 minutes. Connect positive lead. Connect negative lead. Reset security system.

2003 kia sorento keyless entry not working

If both remotes light up and don't work even right next to the car, the car and remotes may need to be paired again. I found where someone mentioned disconnecting the car batter for more than one minute but less than five and seeing if it works again. If not, you may have to get it checked at a dealer. Most of these fobs are only programable with special tools at the dealer. I've purchased nissan oem fobs new on ebay, but still had to pay the local dealer to get them to work.
