My alarm goes of intermitantly do i need anew door

I just did this to my 02' last night.

Put key in ignition and turn to run. Open and close each door, make sure the interior lights and dinger go off each door. If one doesn't that is the door to focus on and do this......

Open door.

With a screwdriver trip the latch on the door 2 clicks, you'll see

In the void just below the latch finger get a can of Brakecleen and firehose the hell out of it. As fast as it evaporates I still had it running out of the door drain.

Pull the handle to re-set the latch and open and close the door several times to work the switch. Might have to do it several dozen times.

Repeat as necessary.

Finish up by giving it a blast of PB Blaster, WD 40, or some light lubricant.

Repeat for the other doors.

If this didn't do the trick, give it a few days to maybe work itself free, ohterwise you may have to replace the $170 lock assembly.

Take to dealer. Vehicle needs vag-com to be reprogrammed. Bring all keys with you to dealer.

Have a 2000 VW Beetle. The alarm won't turn off!

My 2000 Beetle does same thing (although not all the time). Just found an internet post that suggests there is a problem in the door lock sensor. I assume you are using a regular key - not
the keyless entry - like I am. He also said that you can disable the alarm (also disables the
keyless entry - which doesn't bother me) by leaving the front door AND the rear trunk open and
starting the car up. Seems to work so far. I will get the door lock sensor replaced and turn the
alarm system back on (not sure how yet), and let you know if that stops the problem.

ALARM RANDOMLY GOES OFF!!

the factory fit alarm is not voltage sensing .The best advice is to go to VW garage and get them to read the alarm causes,(they can check the last 4).this will give you a good idea where the fault lies.ie door lock mechanism, interior monitor etc..You cannot start looking for problem until you know alarm cause..

go and get the alarm codes read by a garage(central comforts i believe)it will tell you the last alarm trigger and three before that, fix the problem and you will have your car sorted......it is quite common for it to be the boot catch so get it checked out.....let me know and i might be able too help you........vw trained and twenty eight years experience with them
