Probably not. If you mean the passenger compartment, I'd check the heat supply to the core. It's not opening for some reason. Find the reason and you fix the problem. If the engine runs cold constantly, that could be the thermostat. But that almost never happens. usually they go bad the other way, overheating the engine.

If your radiator fan[s] are hardwired instead of computer controlled, the engine won't get warm enough to heat the interior. At least on some Dodge products. Worth looking at.

My car was over heating I went and change the thermostat it was shot. went back to normal.

I think that your engine may have seized up. If the new thermostat was installed in the correct direction, I believe that the radiator was plugged up, which caused the engine to over heat. But it could also be that the impellers in the water pump have eroded away. I have never heard of a sensor that shuts off the engine during an over heat event. Excessive heat may have damaged the new thermostat.

Trying to burp cooling system, but when car heats up the coolant shoots out of the radiator like a fountain.. Thermostat is removed, still heats up

You are correct in your suspicions.
The thermostat blocks flow thru the radiator to help the engine warm up. The coolant still flows thru the block with the thermostat closed. If you remove the thermostat the cooling system should flow thru the radiator and stay below 160 degrees if the air temp is below 90.
If the thermostat is out and the engine is getting hot at idle speed, either the water pump has failed, or there is another blockage in the engine block.

My 2005 nissan altima has no heat

If before you change the thermostat,if the car has always had that thermostat in it,and the heater heated before and the engine is not overheating, the thermostat is most likely fine. But that is the cheapest way to start,Lissa is on the right track there. The heating element may need replaced..

Looking for an assembly diagram for a thermostat for a 1999 for taurus 3.0 SOHC. Or assembly order of gasket, before the thermostat or after it? Also, could lack of heat in car be due to something other...

Thermostat and then gasket. As far as your heat problem goes I would guess heater core, maybe partial blockage. 90% of the time heater core is the problem with no heat. The other thing it might be, but only if the engine itself isnt getting all the way hot, would be your temperature sending unit. That controls when your thermostat opens and closes.

Heating problem

If you changed the thermostat yourself and have noted that the lower radiator hose is cooler than the upper radiator hose, you may have installed the thermostat incorrectly or have purchased a faulty thermostat. A lower radiator hose that does not get hot (or as hot as the upper radiator hose) is a direct indication of a faulty thermostat. Please vote for this solution if you found this to be helpful.
