How to remove factory radio

Hi

I need to remove the factory radio in my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo base model so we can directly connect our Sirius radio to the back for clear reception. How do we pull out the stereo to achieve this?

Thanks

Is there an available aux input on the back of the factory stereo for something like an ipod? (Note, I have the base-line stereo, not the nav, etc)

Removing the radio bezel is easy, which is the plastic surrounding the radio including the heater vents. Slide something thin, or your fingers underneath from the bottom of the bezel and gently pull towards you, carefull not to break any tabs. Once you have one tab out keep working all around the bezel until its off. You will then see the radio and how its mounted. There are 4 screws holding the radio in. Remove and put in the cup holder so you dont lose them. Pull the radio out towards you until you can reach behind and unclip it from the harness. You must also remove the antenna wire from the back of the radio. (before you begin its a good idea to unhook the battery)

To install an Ipod they sell the Ipac-chy, which is a can-bus unit. The unit clips into the radio harness then the other side clips into the car harness. They are around $80. It comes with a patch cable that charges the ipod as well. Look around online for the best price. Metra I believe has one too.

1) Pull off wood looking dash covers on either side of steering wheel.
2) Unscrew about 12-15 phillips screws holding Guage bezel on.
3) Use 10mm? socket to remove 2 large screws holding radio in. DO NOT cut any wires. Carefully remove wire harness.
4) Buy new radio/cd player and get wiring harness adapter (it will be worth it). You will also need a new Radio Space/bezel adapter to get a 1DIN radio to fit into a 1.5DIN stock radio.

Removal of dash and factory stereo

This is an easy fix. Use a flat head screwdriver andpry out the center stack where the heating and air controls are. this will just pop out. From there there are a few screws to to remove to get the cover off around the stereo.
