Our 1999 chevy venture will die right after we start it unless we steep on the gas hard. Could this be the fule filter?

It has been doing it for a while (months) and I have gotten gas quite a few times.

No it runs fine after it is going. This summer sometimes with the AC on it would bog down and shift funny.

It does sound like you picked up some bad gas with **** in it. Check fuel filter and fuel lines for debris.

When i try to start my 98 chevy venture minivan it turns over for about 20 sec then dies unless i pump the gas when i turn it over. what are all the possibilities of what could be causing this to happ

Turning over is engine cranking, not running. I'm not sure I understood your post?
Use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, 3.4L engine, 41--47 psi.
Any applicable trouble codes? To check codes yourself, at the least you need an obd2 code reader.
I'd want to check if system is running rich or lean?

My 2001 chevy silverado is having trouble starting i changed the fule filter and i can hear my fule pump runing but it takes right at 3 cranks for it to start.. It would try to start but just die on me......

Sounds like it. On new automobiles the fuel pump is in the gas tank, cools the pump, but you can disconnect the pump and put on an outside pump instead of pulling the gas tank and replacing gas pump and tank. Leave old pump in gas tank.
