Check engine light on engine acts as if missing new plugs wires and #5 spark pack missing again 6cyl 4x4 3.4 185000 miles

was it running this way before you changed the plugs? just a shot in the dark here possibly a defective spark plug, rare but not impossible. if it was running fine before changing them. Other wise I would take it to autozone and pull codes if it is P0350 #5 misfire we would use the process fuel, fire and compression. is there any engine coolant around any cylinders? Have you checked the coil packs? could be a bad coil pack. if no evidence of fluid around them proceeded to check for spark, fuel then compression. post back results or new post with more deductions. iis it no spark no fuel or bad compression.

What could I do to stop my lt1 from missfiring

Lets see coil pack, spark plug wire, spark plug, and if it is MFI maybe injector, or check injector pulse. If all those are ok, then check the compression in that cylinder, if it is low it will not fire right. Go through normal check out procedures to check each of these pull out the spark plugs, put them back on the end of the wire and check for spark. If these are ok the go on go the injector. If they are not try temporarly swapping spark plug wires with a different coil pack, if the problem follows the wire, then put on new wires. If it does not follow the wire, then the coil pack could be bad, or the signal going to it. If the spark is ok check to see if you have injector pulse signal going to injector. If it is ok replace injector. Hope this helps you.

Can it have a short in we put cole packs on it new alternator batterie modulare ouder the cole pack but it is still like it is miss firing can you help us been broke down for 3 weeks realy need our car

If the coil pack did not resolve the issue you are experiencing, then you may either have an injector issue, or a faulty PCM-powerterain control module, also known as the vehicle's computer.

VW Golf 4 2.0 highline. Car takes time to start up and when it eventully does, grey smoke comes out that smells like petrol. When driving, car loses power and it makes a sound like a diesel car.

You more than likely have a bad coil pack, wire, or plug. Check each spark plug (its a 5/8" Spark Plug Socket), make sure they all look OK. The bad one should be completely black, if it really is fuel. If they all look the same, try pulling each spark plug wire off one at a time, putting it back on if you find it makes a big difference in how the car idles. Once you find one that doesn't affect the idle, you found your culprit. Try swapping with another cylinder and see if the problem moves cylinders. If it stays on the original cylinder, the problem is likely your coil pack. If it moves cylinders, you need new spark plug wires. Always replace the spark plugs when you replace the wires as well.

Autozone says it's #4 not firing and to put some gas treatment in. and new plugs and wires. still misfiring.

Check ignition coil pack for spark, at ignition coil with engine running disconnect one spark plug wire at a time, they should all spark, if no spark out of any of the coil pack, replace coil pack.

I changed my front 3 spark plugs and a broken wire now and i have very bad rough idle and i could hear clicks? whats going on? should I put the old ones back on? the new ones were bought from...

The spark plugs should be matched up with the old ones to be sure that are the same as the new spark plugs and that the threads are not too long or too short and if the spark plugs were pre-gapped or if they need to be gapped, and the auto part store should have given you that information along with any spark plug gap because some spark plugs you can not set the gap on or they will be damaged. The spark plug gap should also be printed on the emission label out under the hood. Also, the other three spark plugs and wires should be changed to complete the ignition tune-up.

The spark plug gap should be the same amount between all of the spark plugs, and the farther apart that the gap is between the spark plugs the rougher the engine will run and idle, and the closer that you get to the same spark plug gap between the spark plugs the smoother the engine will run and idle.

It is also very important that the spark plugs be connected to the correct terminals on the coil pack or the engine will have a severe mis-fire and it will set a mis-fire DTC (Data Trouble Code) and cause the check engine light to come on.

Here is a firing order diagram to help assist you and let me know if need help with this diagram or if you require any further assistance.

How do i plug in the spark plug coils? what order?

If it's the four cyl., the first coil pack bolts over the #2 spark plug. The #2 coil pack wire plugs into #3 spark plug. The number two coil pack bolts directly over the number four spark plug, and the #2 coil pack wire plugs into the #4 plug. The firing order is 1-4-2-3.

Rough idling and accelerating after recent tune-up. Cool Pack needed say shop

Best thing to do is go to Auto Zone or Parts Source and have the computer scanned for DTC codes.
The codes will give you a better understanding why the car is running the way it is and what parts you need to replace if any.
The cool thing is that they will scan for free and give you the how to do it your self it you decide to change the parts your self.
Good luck and hope this helps. It may not be your coil packs, it may just be bad plug wires or dirty fuel injectors.
