Question about 1991 Saturn SL1
My daughters 91 Saturn SL1Has been stalling while she is driving along. When she first starts the car the service engine light comes on. Sometimes when it does go off the car starts to die. After driving awhile the engine light comes on, it jerks a little the oil liht comes on and the car dies.
When trying to restart the car it sometimes just rolls over but doen't fire, its starts after a few minutes. After starting it sometimes wants to die but pressing the gas pedal keeps it going.
I had to have the fuse box replaced in mine. Worked great for one year. Now it's acting up again. I can be driving and the car just dies. I push on the fuses and it will start right back up. Might run for a mileor two. Might go for a couple months. Still scratching my head in SE Alabama.

Hello, try having your service center check the map sensor and the egr solenoid. i have a 91 sl1 sedan and had the same exact problem and it turned out that those 2 pieces went bad. i had them replaced and now my car runs fine.

The fact that the service engine light is coming on is good. Now all you have to do is take it to an AutoZone, or Advance Auto and let them run a code. If they can't run one on a OBDI, you can find the Data plug (under steering column) and put a paper clip on the A & B terminal and turn on the ignition and count the blinks and write them all down, and call up the Auto Parts store and read them off and they can tell you what they are...

I'm having the same problem, so far what i can come up with is the IAC system ( intake air control) either the IAC valve or the stepper motor that the IAC valve sits on. I have already replaced valve and it is comming up code 35 IAC system. I'm thinking now i have to replace the stepper motor.
