The clarification is right. At least 600. The car has a lot of electrical components on it. The colder it gets the more you need those amps.

When i try to start , it will only crank for a second and then stop, battery is fine . its very cold today, could it be the temperature ?

Cold can definitely be the culprit. When you say the battery is "good", what are you basing that on ? And most people in the northern climates know that they need a really high cranking amp battery to be able to perform well on cold mornings. If you have a "cheap" battery, or got your car from a southern area, chances are that your battery has low cranking amps, and won't start your car in extreme cold (or extreme heat). See how many "cold cranking amps" or CCA your battery is rated at. It should be displayed on the top of the battery. If its low (300-500) that's probably your problem. If it's high, (800 & up) and your battery is actually reading 12 volts, your problem is likely somewhere else. Also the larger motor you have, the more CCA you need. Example, a small 4 cylinder escort may get by fine with a 500 CCA battery in cold weather, but a big V8 in a large truck may not turn over with a 500 CCA battery in below zero weather. Can you exchange a 450cca battery for a 500a cca battery

Yes! If the question is can I replace my 450 with a 500cca battery. The more the better. CCA means cold cranking amps so it will perform better in the cold than a 450CCA. The higher the number means you will have more cold cranking capabilities in colder weather. The voltages are the same.

What kind of car battery should i buy for my 2000 honda accord

Any good parts store should be able to point you in the right direction. Car batteries come in different series - size, post configurations and cold cranking amps. Prices vary generally due to warranty period - the longer warranty the more expensive. If you plan on keeping car for a long time or if you live in a cold climate, it's best advised to buy the biggest you can afford. If not plan on keeping car long by minimum.

What kind of battery can I use for my 2002 model Ford Escape? My car is a 4X4, 2.6 engin size

You sate you have the 2.6 liter engine. Is it four or six cylinders? The number of cylinders is also used to determine the correct battery amps. The following information is for the four cylinder engine...You can use any battery with at least 590 cold cranking amps, 620 cold cranking amps, or 720 cold cranking amps. The following is for the six cylinder engine...You can use any battery with at least 590 cold cranking amps, 620 cold cranking amps or 720 cold cranking amps. The auto parts store can help you decide the best battery for your vehicle.

What battery should be used in the car?

It depends on which brand of car battery you prefer. You will get a range of different opinions on which brands are the best based on experiences with different brands.
If you are happy with the Exide brand then the battery selection depends upon which engine you have fitted in the car - the 2.2 litre or 2.4 litre. Anyhow here are some Exide models that will fit your vehicle. You need an Exide 75 size/model with the correct minimum CCA (cold cranking amps)

2.4 Litre engine - Exide 75 - 600 cold cranking amps

2.2 litre engine - Exide 75 - 525 cold cranking amps

Any large battery retailer will be able to help you select a battery suitabe for your car but many specialise in particular brands. Personally I prefer to select a heavy duty battery that is suitable for the vehicle and will offer more than the minimum required cranking amps.

Won't start when cold

Check the Cold Cranking Amps on the Battery that you have. Normally the Cheaper the Battery the Lower the Cold Cranking Amps. I Recommend getting an "Interstate Battery" . It costs a Little more But has a Warranty and the Cold Cranking Amps that you need. They have never let me Down!
