Question about 2000 Daewoo Nubira

1 Answer

2000 daewoo nubira hard steering at slower speeds

We were driving along at 45MPH, braked, the parking brake light went on as well as the check engine light and the little light that looks like a battery came on also. The steering got very stiff. Hopeful that adding some power steering fluid will get us through until we can get her into the shop.. so i have a chance?

Have your mechanic check the brake booster. I have had this problem one time before. the booster wasn't working correctly, small hole in the diaphram. it acted as if there was a large vacuum leak letting the engine rev up, but only when the brakes were applied.

I have Nubira 2000, I changed the brake pads but even though no use the brake effeciency is very less.

after fitting new brake pads you must "bed them in"
by doing a few high speed brake applications of medium to hard brake applications
say 80 km/h hit the brakes down to 40km/h giving a pause in between to let brakes cool down again
if pedal feels spongy or you have to pump pedal up to get a high brake pedal you might have air in brake lines
you should allways bleed brakes after replacement incase of air ingress into system

SETTING THE TIMING

6 Degrees clearpixel.gif Application: With manual transmission
clearpixel.gif Note: Before top dead center - When inspecting idle speed,
set parking brake & block drive wheels.
Curb idle speed (850 RPM).
Transmission in drive (parking brake engaged)

If your car does not have a ditstributor. You cannot adjust timing.
You need a timing light and point it on the timing marks on the crank pulley.

2000 daewoo won't shift from park and no brake lights

Sounds like the park/brake shift interlock switch is bad.

Or

"An actuator solenoid and module assembly, located on the lower portion of the steering column, locks the shifter in Park whenever it receives a signal that the ignition switch is in the ON position. When the module receives a signal from the Brake On-Off (BOO) switch that indicates the brake pedal is depressed, it unlocks the shifter so that it can be shifted out of Park."

It says the most common failures in the system are the fuse and the BOO switch, and if they are fine, special tools are needed to diagnose.

To disable the system: Apply the parking brake, turn the ignition key to LOCK, then remove the key. Insert the key and turn it to OFF. Press the brake pedal. Shift to neutral, start the vehicle and select the desired gear.

2000 daewoo nubira brake light problem.

could be a brake switch problem or a fuse .

check the fuse for continuity and check the brake light switch if there is continuity also when you step on the pedal.

No brake lights when depressing the brake pedal

This can be caused by a number of things. You just have to eliminate each one.
Light Globe Replace one with a new one if it works replace both.
Fuse Check fuse in fuse panel under bonnet.
Brake pedal switch Unclip wire connector, check with circuit volt light indicator, Ohm meter or other continuity tester.
Wiring from pedal switch to light globe As above (maybe cut squashed or broken wiring)
Hope this helps
