Rev counter falling below 1000rpm when warm, nearly stalling

I have a freelander which the rev counter keeps falling below 1000rpm when the vehicle is warm and almost stalling.

If this is a 1.8 petrol model then the idling adjuster/throttle stop screw needs to be adjusted.Slight adjustment can be done without a diagnostic tool ,loosen the lock nut holding the throttle screw found near the throttle cable,adjust this in clockwise to increase revs.

I jumstarted my Opel Astra 1998 model, 160IE. I accidentally crossed the jumper cables and the battery made spark. Now the car start after several attempts but it does not keep the rev counter above...


I hate to say it, but I strongly suspect you have fried your ECU. Look for burned up wires, but if none can be found then you probably need a new ECU.

leake intake manafold or bad vac line... try warm soapy water on running motor out of a spray bottle to find leak... the reason the censor seemed to hel is that the take time to set them selfs... after set back to square 1 leak in the air side of motor... typical in your car...

Stalls and wont idle when cold


many automobiles behave that way on a cold start, so you don't have to worry about it. just continue to rev the engine until it is warm!
