Hi, i just serviced my golf MK4 but the service indicator light keeps beeping on the dashboard every time i start the engine. please tell me how to stop this. i have done it before but forgotten HOW. many thanks
Turn ignition on, then hold down right trip button and keep it held down whilst turning ignition off then on. Release right trip button and then turn left trip button (clock set) to the right and release. turn ignition off. This
Most of the time you can have this problem fixed for free by an on board diagnostics scanner (OBD) scanner visit your local auto parts store (example) autozone and they can have this turned off or you can remove the -negative battery cable this will clear all codes but if it is an ongoing problem it may come back on. good luck!

on the dash indicators you have 2 butons. one from mileage counter, and one in left for seting time. To reset the servie interval switch the ignition off, press the button from milleage counter and keep it pressed while you turn to right the left button from time setting, while is displayed on the diplay:"service - - -" This is all
Part of the Speedo on a Golf has a connection to the engine immobiliser
If a fuse has popped it was for a reason
Is there a warning light on the dash display which looks like an engine with an arrow through it ??
You need a man with a laptop and software to check which codes have ben lost or corrupted
There's one more thing you can try. On a Mk4 VW, you can reset the service indicator by doing the following:
- With the ignition off, press and hold the tripmeter reset button (on the right side of the dash) - Turn on your ignition, wait for all the warning lights to come on, then let go of the tripmeter button - Where your trip distance is normally shown, the display will read "OIL". - To reset the service interval, turn the clock adjust switch (left side) for about 5 seconds. The trip meter display will change to "---" indicating the code has been reset.
You can verify this by turning the car off and on again. Let me know if that worked out for you.
