    Multiple belts or serpentine?

Are you saying the pump is loose?

  • lesterallen May 11, 2010

Is the pump itself that is loose or the pulley?

If all mechanical part are tight and moving freely, check the belt tension using the tension from the manual as a reference. Make sure the mechanical parts are aligned, as previously mentioned.

It might be a loose belt tensioner. When the load of the belt is on it, it may lean at an angle and let the belt walk of.

I would suggest you take it to a shop and have them tighten up the pump. it may have vibrated loose. take it and have it fixed right.

The harmonic balancer on the crank often times separates it's inner core from the pulley portion of the balancer causing these mysterious belt problems.
Unless some recent work was done in that area , I would suspect the harmonic balancer.

Suzuki solio Sterring not smoot and motor is hot

I suspect the belt is lose. Its probably not turning water pump or the power steering pump. You car has an electric cooling fan, but it still won't cool if the pump isn't circulating the water through the radiator. Should be easy to tell. Just look under the hood with the engine running and have someone turn the wheel. You should be able to see, hear and or smell if the belt is slipping

Replaced power sterring and alternator belts also the belt tensioner my car gets hot n0w and runs worse

Not trying to insult you but it sounds like you might have routed one or both belts wrong. I've done it lots of times thinking I would remember the routing! If no label under the hood and not in owners manual, your local parts store or an online search will get you the right belt diagram. However, routing belts wrong usually results in the belt being too short or too long, and they wont stay on.

Also, check any vacuum lines or electrical connectors that you may have disturbed while changing belts and tensioner.

Noise in the drive belt area and how to replace the belt

Depending on the engine size and year, some belt routing is on the belt cover. Check the alignment of the crank pulley or harmonic balancer, a common problem . Most jeeps tension the belt by the power sterring pump or a tensioner pulley next to power sterring .

Hi!
Check your vacuum hoses for broken, cracked or loose connections. Attach a Fuel Pump Pressure Tester to the service port on the fuel injector rail and monitor fuel pump pressure specially when engine is losing power. If CHECK ENGINE light is on, perform a DTC scan. Autozone, Checkers or similar Auto Parts stores perform this service FREE of charge.
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL Rating would be greatly appreciated

I need a diagram set up for a power sterring

if its a serpentine belt, diagram is on radiator support next to latch.if single belt, loosen pivot bolt and adjuster bolt on pump untill belt will slip on.you might have a tensioner (a pulley that looks like it does nothing)find a socket that fits center bolt and pull back to release tension, after getting belt aligned and on all pulleys let go of tensioner and spring load will take care off the rest. Power sterring pump?

If you have checked the belt (it still has one that is) the grinding noise will be the pump but the loss of fluid could also be the steering rack at fault, try to find out where its leaking from
