Question about 1997 Toyota Camry
My 1997 Toyota camry just stopped on a highway and it wont start again. I had to tow it back home. When it stopped I didnt hear any sound. Just dead silence. When we send it to service station, they say the engine is locked up and needs an engine replacement. The starter is trying to start the engine but the engine wont turn. Can you please suggest what could have caused it and how can I check on possibly reviving it without an engine replacement.
Pull your plugs and then get a breaker bar or a large ratchet with a leverage bar. Disconnect your belts and remove your crank pully. Find the apropriate socket and turn it. if it moves its not seized, However this does not and I repeat this does not mean there is not a lot of work ahead of you. You still nead to find out whats wrong and then the bigger problem how to fix.
If you have no clue of what the first part of the directions are please don't try this. Taking everything apart can just make a bad problem worse.
