Well if the idle is surging(going from 1000 to 1500) you probably have air bubbles in your radiator. i had the same problem. just run your car and then fill it with anitfreeze and let it run without the cap on so all the airbubbles to get out.
and if it just stays at a constant 1500 you can just turn the idle down. a mechanic can do it pretty cheap

You provided no info on the vehicle motor,so
I would assume you may have an Air Idle Solenoid
next to the throttle or on the intake manifold, that you
can remove & try cleaning or replace.

I am haveing trouble with my 1996 Mazda B2300, When I start my truck after its been sitting for any length of timeI have to rev the engine to get it started, I have to continue reving until engine is warm...

Replace the temperature sending unit/sensor. This sensor tells the computer to put the engine into cold start mode and it then sets idle a bit higher and puts a bit more fuel into the engine to keep it running without having to touch the throttle. Once it's warm, sensor tells computer to go to normal run mode and it's done. No problem.

I have a 1988 mk 2 golf when i start the engine the heater warms up as normal but when the engine warms up the heater starts blowing cold air out. also now that the cold weather has started after driving...

sounds like the thermostat stickng as when engine gets cold the choke will start workin again, causing the over reving or your electric fan is on all the time "over cooling" the engine

Idle goes nuts while warming up and now while driving....any help

check your throttle position sensor. this has nothing to do with your water pump. when the TPS goes out it does what your talking about. it revs up and down all the time. it is fairly easy to replace
