I have the same problem with my abs, traction light, and power train light. Origionally all three came on and it was a broken abs ring. I replaced the left rear axle and it went away. Two months later all three lights are on again. I looked at the Abs rings and everything was okay. Can't figure out why the lights are on.

Sometimes this light is a small illuminated picture of a car losing control. How this system works: Traction control uses wheel speed sensors to detect when one or more of the car's wheels lose grip and traction. When the system registers a loss of traction in one or more of the wheels, a computer will limit power to the wheels that are still in solid contact with the road to prevent a skid. Common reasons for this to happen:
  • ABS is malfunctioning: Traction control and ABS (anti-lock braking system) often share the same control module and internal self-diagnostics system. As a result, sometimes an issue in the ABS can trigger the traction control light. If this is the case, then both the ABS and Traction Control lights will be on.
  • Broken wheel speed sensors: Wheel speed sensors are usually in the wheel bearing assembly, and determine the rate at which each wheel is moving. The sensors relay that information to the traction control module, which determines whether or not power needs to be shifted. Wheel speed sensors can get dirty or damaged and stop working, which prohibits the traction control module from knowing when to enable the system.Traction control module is faulty: The traction control module - which, again, is often shared with the ABS - can malfunction and break altogether, causing the system to stop working. What to expect: A top-rated mobile mechanic will come to your home or office to determine the source and cause of the traction control issue, and will then provide a detailed inspection report that includes the scope and cost of the necessary repairs. How important is this service? It's important to have the traction control issue investigated as soon as possible, as adverse driving conditions can arise at any time. While your car is unlikely to incur further damage from a faulty traction control system, it won't be safe to drive in rain, snow, sleet, or other inclement weather, or even possibly through pools of water on the road. Furthermore, the issue that is causing the traction control light to illuminate could also be impacting the ABS.

ABS/ Traction control light/BAS & brake light on in 2008 dodge grand caravan

It is safe to drive. You need a scan tool to get a code out of it. Could be as simple as a wheel speed sensor going bad. All of these lights will work together normally. The traction control uses the ABS to gain traction, and the Brake Assist System is part of the stability control. Also uses the ABS.

Abs light is on and tractiioncontrol light says off but cant turn it back on with switch

abs light means that a problem is being sense in the anti lock brake system, Traction control only activates when needed and is not related to the abs light, if you turn the traction control on and try driving and making the car slide the traction control will activate.but as for the abs light you need to get your brakes checked.

The ABS control Module is going bad, that all, since the ABS and traction work together you will get both lights on. Take to a mechanic, expect to spend about $500.

the (!) symbol is for the traction control. the abs light means you have a code stored in the abs computer. the abs is what partially controls the traction control. basically go to the dealer or repair shop and have the code pulled and diagnosed.

Traction control not working

the most common problem i find with abs are faulty abs readings a bad bearing or external ring gear is chipped or cracked. it uses magnets to read a steel ring gear no thicker than a quarter inch so a slight disturbance can throw it off a visual inspection of the gears could shed light on your problem also traction control is part of your abs so thats why they came on together but you should know these are only typical it is possible you have a bad abs module hopefully not but still possible(though unlikely) hope this helps good luck

Traction system

Hi there.Whats happening here is an abs sensor in the wheel has failed. In doing so it will turn off your traction control because your abs breaks and traction control work together .If maybe you have an auto zone near by they can scan your break system to find what abs sensor is causing the problem.I hope this clarified some for ya..Auto zone will scan the car for free so that won't cost you anything. You can drive the car you just wont have abs and you should get it fixed.Again I hoped I helped you and if you need further assistance I'll be here to help you..Have a great day..

2001 olds ABS and traction control sensor issue

An ABS sensor DOES affect the traction control system. Traction control uses these sensors to determine if a wheel is losing traction. A bad sensor will cause both the ABS and TRACTION lights to come on.
The CHECK ENGINE light however is going to be a seperate problem.
