Question about 2008 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

Fuel Economy has dropped dramatically

I keep track of my fuel economy at every fill-up. Just recently, I noticed the fuel gage needle had dropped an eighth of a tank after only about 25 miles of driving. After a bit more driving (52 miles total since last fill-up), I filled the tank again with just over 3 gallons of gas, for and MPG of just under 17 MPG. Obviously, this is way out of line for a 2009 Camry under normal driving conditions. Any suggestions?

I have the standard tires and the check engine light is not on. Average temperature has been in the 30's, but I've filled up a few other times in these same conditions with no noticeable difference. This recently measured mileage is about 30% below my average.

I have a 2004 camry and the ambient temperature has changed in this midwestern winter but, the mileage has dropped from 31 to 20 mpg on the last two tanks. It didn't go down that much last year. Only a drop from 31 to about 28mpg the last two winters. I put on new tires, (same size as the OEM tires) and there was no improvement,

two things to do to improve fuel economy: have the tsb done for shift improvement and hesitation. remove the factory air filter because it makes the engine starve for AIR and replace it with a PUROLATER air filter or FRAM. the toyota air filter is TOO RESTRICTIVE!!!!!!

Have you noticed any change in the performance other than fuel economy?

What have the ambient temperatures been? The best fuel mileage is attained at 68 degrees F.

Is your check engine light on?

Have you put wider/low profile tires on it?

What sensors deal with gas

fuel level or fuel economy? As in do you have a problem with the fuel gage not working, or a poor fuel economy problem?

2006 Aveo has low fuel economy. Changed out thermostat because it was not keeping temp at acceleration. Now the temp is stable, but still seems low at 180 F and still have bad gas mileage. No check engine...

Many things can contribute to low fuel economy, tire pressure, driving style, milage, and state of the servicing.
What sort of milage does the car have?
Has it had a tune up recently?
Air filter condition?
Fuel filter condition?
Transmission service if milage dictates?

What happens when thermostats dont work in chevy tahoe 2000

The temp gauge will read lower than normal especially at highway speed. The check engine light may come on with a P0134 code (I think). And there will be a noticeable loss of heater from the heater, if you live in colder climates.

If you track fuel economy you will also notice a noticeable reduction in fuel economy depending on how cool the engine gets.

I currently own a 95 Honda Accord I've found the feul economy is not great especially in the city I'm thinking of buying a 95 VW vento cl 1.8 I'm wondering how much better the fuel mileage would be?

These vehicles are comparable in gas mileage. To save more fuel you will need to downsize dramatically to notice any huge savings. With the rising cost of gas, this might be a tricky issue also... Hope this helped. Vote for me.

Hey, was wondering what the message center display symbols and what they mean, lost my manual

There are five trip computer displays which may be stepped through by pushing the MODE button. The information will appear in the following order:

D AVG ECON (Average Fuel Economy): This shows the average fuel economy since the last reset.

D INST ECON (Instantaneous Fuel Economy): This shows fuel economy for the most recent second of driving.

D RANGE (Trip Range): This shows the estimated distance that can be traveled with the remaining fuel. The fuel economy used to calculate range is based on the last few hours of driving. When in a low fuel condition, LO is displayed.

D FUEL USED (Trip Fuel Used): This shows the accumulated fuel used since the last reset.

D AVG SPEED (Average Speed): This shows the average speed since the last reset.
