Can you manually fix a VW jetta fan belt?

Just wanted to know if I should buy the manual and try to fix it or is it something that has to be taken in to be fixed?

You can fix the fan belt yourself. It is best to buy the manual as it gives you insight/tips tricks to follow when changing this belt. It is usually very easy to do. Hope this helps you out! Thank you for Using FixYa!

I'm trying to buy a good vw jetta, I found one

Most VW are interferance motors. That would mean the pistons could have hit some valves. I would stay away.
Also have you seen the motor? I may be off but I thought the VR6's had a chain. Even if, its still an interfernce motor.

try checking the throttle position sensor or the idle control valve both can keep it from running.

Cooling fan relay

obviously you have met an idiot and believe me there is plenty of them out here. your cooking fan relay is something you can buy from the dealer and not the auto parts store.
what you can do is go to the auto parts store and buy the technical manual and once you find out the location of the cooling fan relay just go to a local salvage yard or a u-pull-it yard and most like it will cost you $1 and all you have to do is just find a VW or a similar model to it within a 2 year difference and just pull it out and you will save at least $20-$30.

What marks do i use on the cam pulley and flywheel

The best thing to do is to buy a repair manual at a major auto parts store, there is a detail procedure to do this correctly and you must follow it to a Tee in order to get it right.

Does a 1992 1.8L vw jetta GL have an interference engine?

My manual for '93-'98 models calls for a timing belt replacement every 60K, and the engines are the same for earlier models, VW didn't do much different to them during that time.
