Your engine has only one belt that runs all the options under the hood. You will need to check your serpentine belt for wear/brittle/burns.
The sound you hear is the bet slipping on all the pulleys.

the steering lines fittings are different sizes it could be the sensor however make sure all the air is bleed out of the system first. to do this with the engine running turn the steering wheel full left and full right until you hear no noise then check the steering fluid level and repeat as needed.

Why is my 05 impala hard to steer if I am not accelerating?

Most likely you never had a pump problem
but a failed steering rack mostly from not changing
the fluid every 3 years

My car whines when I start it and when I turn. I replaced the power steering pump but cant get it to stop

This sounds like you might have a problem with the rack and pinion. What's probably happening, is there is a seal (or seals) that is allowing air into the hydraulic system and that's why you're hearing the whining sound. Unfortunately, it's not as easy to change as the pump, but it should cure the problem.

I hope this helps! :)

2005 impala LS with 3.8 eng. & 61290 miles. Transmission started shifting hard on 1st & 2nd gears, just out of nowhere. Is this a common problem on Chevys? Once on open high way vehicle runs...

two things: Pressure control solenoid first. Second issue is the valve body. These are common issues, but 9 times out of 10 its just the pressure control solenoid. Power steering, could have a leak, that causes air, which in turn causes noise or yes, a noisy pump.

1998 for windstar gl..grinding noise in steering

i don't think it is the pump. The pump would generally make a noise all the time because the motor's belt is what powers your power steering pump. Sometimes you will hear it bog down the motor when it is being turned all the way to one side or the other but that sould be about it. The grinding you described sounds like a rack and pinion problem and not anything to do with the pump itself. I hope im wrong because rack and pinion fixes are much more expensive and time comsuming to repair

Power steering hose blew

Generally it should work it's way out by itself, but you can remove air by turning the wheels all the way in one direction (hold it there a few seconds) then repeat in other direction...check fluid level and that's all. If noise lasts more than a few hours, then pump has sustained some damage.

Installed rack and power steering pump is good but

To check the pump, squeeze the return line with pliers with the pump running. If the pump is good it will whine when you do this.
