On the way home tonight, my vehicle lost power, service engine soon light was flashing, vehicle decreasing power, lost oil pressure, turn engine off was the message. We pulled over and shut the vehicle off, it did not turn back on after sitting for a while, had vehicle towed home. Any ideas what this could be?

Re: 2004 chevy trailblazer 73,000 miles
The first place to start is the flashing engine lite. that means cylinders are not firing at all or improperly and driving it like that for even short period could cause heavier damage. particularly valves and cat converter(s) the computer really needs to be scanned for codes in order to proceed. did the oil lite come on before or after engine quit. after engine quit would be normal cause it stalled. its possible that it needs spark plugs and/or coils. or more

If the service engine soon light is flashing, it means the computer has detected an engine misfire with the potential of catalytic convertor failure. Don't just tune it up. Bring it somewhere they can read the trouble code. Sometimes it will designate which cylinder is having the problem.
When the Check Engine light flashes it means there is a significant emissions problem detected and it needs to be fixed very soon. Continuing to drive with this condition will destroy the catalytic converter. You may have gotten debris in one or more of the injectors when the gas got low. The first thing to do is get the codes read and find out what the computer is reporting bad.
You need to get the fault codes read to determine where the problem is that set the SES light. Autozone will scan your car at no charge. At some point you will need to get a mechanic involved to further diagnose the codes.
