How much does it cost to me to fix igmition for 98 tyota

This varies from shop to shop as each has the right to charge what they want for labor and parts. personally I would do the job for about $80 + parts. You can probably find the ignition switch for about $100 in some places, but again this varies from location to location.

I just bought a 98 Mustang v6 3.8 The battery light stays on with out key in igmition and if I step on brake pedal the lights come on as if I have the key in the ignition. Im a bit confused as to why its...

I've seen this happen with a faulty remote starter before. One of the relays shorted out and sent power through the brake wire to the ignition wire.

Ignition key switch

You have to use a pin or paper lip to insert in hole in igmition switch to release the lock cylinder. The key has to be in "on" position I think.

Removal
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301) .
  1. Turn lock cylinder key to RUN position.
  1. Place a 3.17mm (1/8-inch) diameter wire pin or small drift punch in hole in upper steering column shroud (3530) under ignition switch . Press retaining pin while pulling out on ignition switch to remove it from lock cylinder housing (22074) .
Installation
  1. Install ignition switch by turning it to RUN position and pressing retaining pin. Insert ignition switch into lock cylinder housing . Ensure ignition switch is fully seated and aligned in interlocking washer before turning key to OFF position. This will permit cylinder retaining pin to extend into lock cylinder housing hole.
  1. Rotate ignition switch, using lock cylinder key, to ensure correct mechanical operation in all positions.
  1. Connect battery ground cable.
