Remove the battery cables and let sit for about an hour. This resets the computers/sensors. Reinstall the battery cables and the car should run choppy for about 15K(take it for a drive) then it smooths out. This is what we tried, but never experienced the choppy ride later. Try it it should work.

I have a 2007 jeep patriot. It stalled at stop sign started ran rough. Parked came back drove it home ran u- scan code p0017 replaced crank and cam sensors still runs rough changed plugs were bad. I was...

code p0017 refers to crank/ cam oosition sensor bank 1 sensor B -correlation ===causes --wiring--CKP sensor--CMP sensor--mechanical fault.
It also refers to control modules, cooling fan--no signal===causes -- wiring--ECM.
If it has a timing chain then the the advice that it will not be the chain is good. So I suggest checking out the cam/ crank sensors and wiring

I have a '93 saturn SW-1 that boggs down and has no power. I have replaced catalyic converter, oxygen sensor, coolant temp sensor, crank position sensor, computer, fuel filter, plugs, wires and coils....

Before you spend more money guessing have a professional repair shop diagnose the car for you. You need to know the fuel pressure when its bogging, a scan tool will read if its lean or rich. A timing chain issue will show low compression. Is it constant or come and go? hot? cold? always? every gear? does it ever run OK?

Where Do I start with a P0016 code on my 2005 Dodge neon (2.0L)

Does the car run? If it doesnt run it may have slipped time.If it does run, use a scope if available and check for a weak or erratic signal from the cam and crank sensors. The cam sensors routinely go out on these cars but a bad crank sensor can cause the code also.

Truck quit running, is getting fuel, spark, timing is dead on, local shop said it may be crank pos sensor or cam pos sensor,where are they located/

Very possible. I would check the sensor with a meter. I would say it most likely the crank shaft sensor. Some are located behind the pulley area and some are located at the back of the engine where the transmission meets the engine. Good Luck

the crank sensor will cause intermitent dieing while driving and a no start,,,common gm issue,a p0355 is for the crsankshaft position sensor performance,,or lack there of performance really,lol replace the crank sensor,,it will not cause a rough running though it will either run or not with a bad sensor, you might have 2 issues but i know the p0355 is a bad crank sensor

Timing chains on 3800 engines do not go bad. The older 3.8 1987 back did. You need to put a crank sensor on it first also check the ign. module under coil pack for green gel that may be coming out of it. Clean the all three battery cables and replace the two bolts too. My 1990 lesabre 3800 has 295000 miles on its timing chain.
