I had a 2002 model 1.4 Fiesta, same problem Engine management light or ECA, electronic accelaration Control (EAC), it needs a ford dealer to do a computer diagnostic, most likely that it will need replaced.

Mt friend who is a mechanic for ford said that it was a common factory fault and is very common in 1.4 zetec /duratec petrol models.

I now have a 2007 Fusion and was quick to see if this problem had been sorted on this model, and it has!!

Hope this helps!!

My 2006 ford fusion shakes or misfires around the speeds of 20 40 and 60 mph. I got all 6 coils changed the fuel injected cleaned and transmission oil changed. My engine light come on when it shakes...

I'm sorry to hear that. Did he tell you what codes were in it? Do you live near a autozone or somewhere they can check the codes for free. Or maybe you can call the person up and ask what codes are in the car. But it sounds like you are having a miss fire problem. If the check engine light is flashing it is not a good idea to drive it. Try to get the codes and post them please.

Code 1529

Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on. P1529 is a TCM MIL request to the
ECM.
TCM = Transmission Control Module. The sluggishness is really what is known as 'fail safe' mode (3rd gear). You should have had other codes besides P1529 to identify which system in the transmission caused the problem.

The check engine light on my 2006 ford fusion s blinks 8 times.....what does that mean...i just changed the oil. thanks

It means you have an engine miss. Have the vehicle scanned. Autozone will do this for free.

EAC FAIL FORD FUSION 03

I have an EAC failure on my wifes 53 reg Fusion 1.4 and it's been off the road for 2 months. An independent check showed fault code P2135, which relates to the throttle body but fitting a body from a healthy Fiesta with the same engine didn't solve the problem. I was advised to check wiring to the body but all seemed OK. Took car to Ford who stated that the car needs an updated body and wiring and the parts are on back order with first delivery not due until Jan 2010! Why the car won't work with replacement original parts is a mystery. I'm very disappointed with Ford. Sorry this doesn't solve the problem but hope it clarifies the situation. Fuel pump

Have you check your hoses? One of them might have a hole punture. Easy to replace once found. I had the same problem with sluggish and being noisy.
