1997 ford explorer, xlt, 4x4. The Temperature knob seems broke. I have full max COLD A/C air and when a Heating and Air condition person checked the air/temp reading was 67. I have air yet no Temp. adjustments. I like to keep the air temp. control in the middle yet its COLD air and nothing else. I have opened the glove box area, swapped the vacuum cylinder and the thermustate and still to me, FREEZIng.. the temp out side is in the 30s and well.....

I have the same problem or similar I get no heat what so ever but everything I have checked is good took my '97 explorer for a diaghnostic and the person told me it was my heater core but is working. He also said the blower and yes that is working as well. I found on this site a few people say that it could be the vacuum hoses going from the heat assembly so you might want to check that out as well.NEW ENGLAND gets pretty cold at this time of year as well. GOOD LUCK.

Freightliner columbia wont blow heat into cab have replaced thermostats and heater core blend doors work heater core gets hot and blower works but air from vents only gets to 80 deg

The air from the heater core will be as hot as the coolant temperature of the engine. 80 Degrees is the opening temperature of the thermostat and that will be where it remains until the engine starts to work or the ambient temperature rises.
Thermostats come in a couple of different opening temperatures so check around for one that opens around 85 degrees if you want hotter air in the cab
Another point is to close the recirculating vent door to the cabin as the heater core is trying to heat fresh freezing air if it is open

'94 Ford Taurus-No Heat?

Good point. Solving it will probably take more time than money.
Thermostats and heater cores do not work one day and stop the next. If your engine warms up normally and doesn't overheat, the gauge reads normally, engine is at normal operating temperature after about 10-15 minutes ...all these point to a good thermostat. It is working right and should not be a problem.
To check the heater core, wait till engine is at normal operating temperature. Turn heat setting to high, then feel both heater hoses-both should be hot. If both are hot the core is circulating coolant and is not a problem. If only one is hot (which would be the inlet hose) the core is not circulating-could be an air block or the core is plugged up and will need replacing.
If heater core and thermostat are good, then it probably is the temperature blend door in the heater case. The door actuator is probably vacuum controlled. I don't know how difficult it is to troubleshoot on your Taurus, but check if vacuum controls are working right from the dash controls, check if the blend door is stuck, is broken, or if the vacuum control is working to open and close the blend door. When you want heat, the blend door should let blower air pass across the heater core.
From the engine you will have a single vacuum hose that goes through the firewall into the dash to the heater/AC controls. There, a pod like device can rout the vacuum signal to various doors on the heater case.
Good luck.

When you turn the A/C on does the elect. fan suppose to come on evenin cold weather and whitch temp. switch runs it?

Normally the ac fan (in front of the condenser) will run as soon as the ac is switched on. This condenser gets hot when the gas is being compressed and needs to have the heat removed for the system to work IT will switch on regardless of the ambient temperature as it is connected directly to the ac compressor clutch. IF you are referring to the heater fan inside then it will only work with the heater fan on or with both ac and heater on but will not always work with just the ac on.

My 2004 e270's second battery "died" and was replaced. How I realized this was the aircon went into "off-mode". The AC is now working again but not at the same chill as before.

For an ac to work there has to be heat in the cab to evaporate the gas after it leaves the TX valve . Check that if the ambient air temp is well down then the ac temp may not be as good as it could be expected on a hot day. Check that the ac clutch is engaging and you are not reading ambient temperature through the system

Ll2001 suburban, when the AC is on, the front AC blows hot, warmer than ambient temperature while the rear AC blows cold air as expected. The flapper door seems to be working and both air box filters are...

possible heater hot water control valve. if equipped would be found on one of the heater hoses under the hood. also try cafeully pinching the heater hoses to stop water flow.

I have a 2001 cadillac sts and it only overheats when the ac is on why?

The AC sheds the heat from the passenger compartment through the condenser (which looks like a second radiator), which is in front of the engine's radiator. That “preheats” the air that pulls heat from that radiator.

If the radiator has all it can do to shed the engine's heat using the air that is at ambient temperature, preheating that air will push it over the line into overheating.

Additionally, the AC removes the heat in the passenger compartment through the work that the AC compressor does. The AC compressor gets that power to do that work from the engine. This in turn causes the engine to work harder, creating more heat to get rid of than when the AC is off.

If the coolant is old, replace it.
Ensure the belt is tight enough on the water pump.
On many cars there is an electri fan that comes on with the AC, mounted in front of the condenser. If you have this, ensure it is operating.

Ac does not come on cold when first started when i drive it a mile or so it come on ice cold and stays working till I shut it off 2000 nissan altima

This is normal conditions anything that uses forced air heat or cold there is ambient air in the duct work that must be purged out before the heated or cooled air flows.

When puting heater on cool browing hot air

There is a door attached to the cable behind the levers on the heater controls. The cable goes to the heating unit under the dash to a trap door that is supposed to move. You will want to look to see that the cable is attached and moving the lever on the side of the blower box under the dash. If its not moving, move it manually and see if you get temperature change to cool. Probably, your heater is stuck on and hot air is being carried over the heater core and into the vehicle. You need to close off the door that allows the heat into the vehicle and then trace the cable back to the lever to find out where the problem is. Maybe a broken or disconnected cable or improper closing heater box door.
