Where exactly is the windshield washer reservoir in a Jeep 2001 Classic?

  • johnstenson2 Dec 09, 2008

Take off front left wheel and take out the inner plastic shield( it is held in with push in plugs) as you look at the jeep, the pumps are located on your left. there is two pumps. I replaced both and paid about $50 each. the pumps just pull out.

When you do as i wrote you will see the tank

I forgot to mention that the top 3" piece of tubing (where you pour the fluid into) had completly BROKEN OFF from the tubing that leads to the tank, so I can't fill the tank with fluid. Do I get to the tank in the same way that I would get to the pumps? I can't see where the break in the tubing occured. Is it maybe under the air cleaner department?

I just bought this Jeep and when I went to fill the windshield washer tank today, all I found was a 3" piece of plastic tubing with the yellow cap attached to the top. I can't seem to find the dang tank (to where this 3 inch piece was attached). The washer was working the other day.

How do you find and replace the windshield washer pump on the 2005 dodge magnum RT

The pump is located inside of the fluid holding tank itself. I would suggest checking the 30 amp (pink) fuse for the windshield washer pump before attempting to replace the pump. The fuse is located in engine compartment distribution block. Find the location of the 30 amp fuse by looking in your car's manual. If the fuse looks fine try swapping it out with an identical 30 amp fuse from the distribution block and trying the washers again. I believe there is one other 30 amp fuse (possibly for the headlights?) in that same location.

Replacement (if necessary) is no easy task as it would require removing quite a few parts of the front fascia of the vehicle including the front bumper and possibly passenger's side fender.

Hi...I have a 1999 Jeep cherokee Sport. The windshield washer quit..dont know if it is a clogged line or a pump. Not hearing the pump when I activate. Also lines appear to be hidden.

This is most likely due to the washer pump going out. I just replaced mine on my 2000 cherokee. There is a front and back pump which is located under the drivers side fender. You will have to remove the plastic corner bumper to get access to the pumps. This is an easy job to do yourself. Dont forget to have something ready to drain the fluid into when you remove the pump from the washer tank. The front pump is located below the rear pump.

1998 Jeep Cheroke(4 door): front windshield washer does not function ... could it be aa electrical problem, bad fuse? Need to know where the fuse for the pump is located so I can check that first before...

Hi Ins,

No need to take apart the reservoir just yet. You'll see two pumps attached to the reservoir, one front, one rear.

Just switch the plugs. Then try the rear washer switch, it should spray up front. That will tell you if the pump is bad or not.

The fuses for the wipers and the pumps are under the drivers dash, left kick panel.

Best regards,
Mike

It is the same tank, and the tank should have two pumps on it, one for front and one for rear.

What fuse controls the windshield washer pump? on a 2001 Jeep Che

usually it's in the washer bottle which is usually in the fender well, ahrd to get to.
The fuse that controls it should be listed in your owners manual. Usually a 10 amp fuse in the fuse panel inside the car usually on the instrument panel somewhere.

Replace washer pump

Although I am not too familiar with your particular model (I have a 96 Grand Cherokee), I have never heard of having to remove a fender to replace a washer pump on ANY vehicle.  The pump is usually attached to the bottom of the washer tank.  That tank can usually be removed with just a few nuts or screws and then you can get to the pump attached.

98 Cherokee Front Washer Pump Inop, rear pump o-k, Same Pump?

Different pumps. They are both located side by side on the bottom of the washer reservoir.
They are cheap and easy to replace, or just move the wires from one to the other, then your front will work and not the rears.

Winshield washer motor does not run

These days, most windshield washer pumps are mounted to the bottom of the washer fluid reservoir. Where’s that, you ask? Well, inner+fender+w+text.jpgyou know that spout you pour the fluid into—the one that disappears into nowhere? Well, the reservoir is actually 2384f71.jpglocated inside the front fender between the bumper and the front wheel. To replace the pump, you will have to jack up the vehicle, remove the front wheel and then remove the inner fender liner.
