I have cleaned the carbuetor and just had an il change. It will turn over but won't start.Cannot smell any gas ,but I can hear the fuel pump engage. Could it be electrical. I recently blew some fuse but they've been replaced. battery flat or low amps. starter motor brushes worn out, or engine locked up. try jump starting engine off a known working battery or another engine. if not turn over see if you can turn over the engine by hand. ( socket on crankshaft and turn clockwise) if these are all good replace the starter motor. or bump start engine.
Is the battery turning over the engine properly or is it barely cranking over? The main function of a battery is to provide the power to turn the engine over until the engine starts, then it's only function is to help regulate the voltage in your system along with the alternator. Will the truck start when you hook it up to jumper cables? If the engine is turning over properly and the truck not starting, the battery is not the problem. You then need check out other things. For a gasoline engine to run, it requires three things; fuel to burn, compression in the engine and a spark at the right time to ignite the fuel. You must have all three for it to work.
When the light comes on, one or more diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) are stored in the engine control module. These DTCs remain even if the light goes out. To address a Check Engine Light problem, the DTCs are retrieved and the appropriate troubleshooting information is followed in order to determine the problem.
Just scanned the computer and send us code number find it.
