Question about 2004 Mini Cooper
If I was working on it I would disconnect battery to "try" to reset the computer usually i have managed to succeed doing so wait a couple of means with both terminals off before reconnecting them.

You can not reset it. all you have to do is go to the dealer and get a new sensor. once the sensor touches the disk it opens up the circuit, thus you have your brake pad warnning.

Did they replace the brake pad wear sensor? If so, try leaving the key in the on postion for 30-45 seconds (dont start the car) This is how we reset the lights on BMW's and the Mini's use a similar system for service lights
