You will need a 16mm and 20mm line wrench, they tend to rust quite a bit; so you might want to let it soak in penetrating fluid. The location is underneath on the drivers side in front of the rear tire; if not there it will be somewhere close to the gas tank.

There should only be one fuel filter located near the gas tank. You will need a wrench for one side and a special tool to squeeze the clip on the other side. The fuel system must be bled before you take off the filter!! as the fuel line is pressurized. If you can afford it, take it to a mechanic. If you can't, I recommend getting the Haynes manual for the car showing detailed instructions for changing the fuel filter. The Haynes manuals have instructions for a complete tear down of the car along with great troubleshooting guides.
The fuel filter on this vehicle is located inside the fuel tank and is part of the fuel pump module. It's supposed to be a lifetime filter, and most of the time they are, but if it should ever clog then the entire fuel pump module has to be replaced.
It is located in the rear of the car, near the top of the fuel tank towards the front of the car between the rear axle and gas tank. Make sure you get the Special GM ac/fuel line disconnect tool to remove it. Thank you for using fixya and be safe.
