Question about 1998 Chevrolet C2500
I had to change the head gaskets in a 1998 3/4 ton chevy with a 350 vortec in it. I need the torque specs and sequence so I can put it back together.
Vortecs are a little different that old school small blocks, grab a Haynes or Chiltons, the cross patterns and specs are simply diagramed. Vortec, as any really, start with 25# then 45# and then final torque which I believe is around 70-75# but to be sure verify with the manual. AutoZones, Murry's, Adavance auto all carry the books, Cheap insurance.

Because torque specs vary from engine to engine, it is best to run your vin # at a auto parts store and they can give you the torque specs for your heads. As for the sequence, you always start in the center of the head, top to bottom, and then move outward, taking the bolts down in 3 stages. Do one stage, come back and do a second stage and then a final stage. Run you threads down dry. No goup.
