Question about 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE

2001 Grand Am 4clynder wont start

I had a simular problem about two monthes ago car started fine in the morning and in the afternoon nothing, I managed to get the car started after several hours and got it to a mechanic friend who replaced the fuel filter and now two monthes later the same problem occured. Before my friend reccomended replacing the fuel pump but we didnt until now. So I replaced the pump and am still having the same issue, every couple of tries it does fire up for seconds but that is all.

I guess this is a two part question, one is there a way to get the hoses from the new pump to the fuel lines mixed up or are they differant sizes for ease and two does anyone have any other suggestions?

2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE Won't Start This morning my car wouln't start. Yesterday the TRAC OFF Light was on and I had noticed some hesitation when the car was at a complete stop. The temp today was 20 degrees but the wind chill was below zero. The car made the noise as if it wanted to start but wouldn't catch. The only light that was on was the Check Engine Soon light. The radio and dome light came on fine. The car just wouldn't start. What could be my issue?

Check the fuel pressure that will tell whether its the fuel system. yes you might have mixed up the lines if the fuel pressure doesnt check out you should look at them and then check to make sure the pump is coming on. if it isnt then you will want to check all the fuses and relays

Will not start, no clicking sound from starter. any Ideas to start troubleshooting?

It would appear that that your starter itself is bad. You don't have to remove it to have it tested but you will have to get it started to get it to a CARQUEST or somewhere like that.

2001 pontiac grand will not start all of a sudden. ran fine this

The problem may be the security issue. Do you see a security light? Dust gets into the ignition tumbler and causes a bad contact with the sensor prompting a false security issue.

I had the same problem and thought it was a fuel pump issue, but after a $500 replacement ordeal, I later encountered the same issue again.

To resolve:
Insert the key and turn on ignition tumbler to ACC on (Position prior to engaging the starter)
Wait around ~15-20 minutes (The security light will change... I believe it will flash when the security reset...it's been a long time...sorry)
Afterward, turn the ignition tumbler and off
Your card should start there after

Tumbler maintain: Blow some compress air to prevent this incident from happening.

Hopefully this will resolve your issue without the need of spending any further $$$!

Wont start

The starting fluid things results are what is leading me here , I'm calling it an ignition problem (read:no spark).
The issue you have had with the ignition module a couple a months ago leads me back there as well.
When the module was replaced , was the white heat transfer grease spread liberally on the heat sync?
Failure to do this will cause the module to overheat easily enough.
The flashing lights now, That's a stumper. Is the emergency warning light switch turned on?
