Is it hard to replace ac clutch bearing on 2000 Ford Widstar? Does the compressor need pulled out? Does it require special tools?

it is far easier and probably cheaper to replace it with either a re-manufactured pump or even a used pump.

most of the time the compressor will need to be removed as there is not enough clearance for the tools needed. This will require and evacuation of the a/c system before you start.

I’m happy to assist further over the phone at

How to replace pully bearing for ac 2003 gmc envoy

Takes some special pullers ,could rent them at an auto zone or similar,
should be able to do it under the hood without having to worry about the freon charge.
The bearing has to be pressed out of the clutch assembly, another small cost unless you can do it.

also, there is a kit available to take the compressor off and put an idler pulley in it's place ,about 50 bucks I think.

Need instructions to replace ac comp clutch bearing on 2000 buick la sabor 3800 engine

Yes you need special tools. You need to remove the compressor clutch and the bearing. Then you need to press the bearing off the clutch and when installing you need to set the air gap.If you are not familiar whit this repair you should take it to a repair shop.Sometimes it can be done in the car without recovering the freon and sometimes not.Depending on how much clearance there is.Hope this helps.Good luck.

A/C clutch pully frozen. I unpluged power and still froze. Can I just replace the pully? Is that where the berring is ?

You can get away with just replacing the pulley and clutch bearing for the AC compressor...the problem is, which compressor is fit to your vehicle and what special tools are required to get it off...???...manufactureres around the early to mid 90's chopped and changed compressors like they were going out of fashion....they were from Nippon-Denso, Hitachi, etc just to name a few and rarely were made by thre unless you know the brand/model of the compressor, theres not much more info i can give you.....

Belt squeel caused by air coditioner cluch bearing how to change the cluch bearing and pullers/tools needed

I take it you have tried a new belt. The Air-conditioner belt driven clutch and bearing repair will cost you nearly as much as a re-conditoned unit. The time, effort and agony is just not worth the trouble of going through any clutch / bearing replacement attempt. (been there done that! And had the right tools!) Ended up replacing the compressor anyway as the internal rollers of the Compressor were the actual problem.

Buy a whole new clutch for about $200. You need a special puller to remove the old one if you intend to refurbish it. It's not worth the effort. Just remove the clips and knock the old one off with a hammer. Chuck it away and replace with a brand new clutch assembly.

Ac compresor clutch

this isn't easy and you will need special tools.  You will most likely need to have the compressor on a work bench.
