Bent valve, sticky rocker arms, sticky valves, failing bearings, bent rods, piston about to fall apart, lots of stuff.

Valve tap cause

Most engines now use hydraulic lifters and they can leak a little, this causes space between then lifter and the push rod. This results in a tapping noise that goes away when they get warm or fill back up.

Nissan hardbody 2.4 16v 2004 model have a ticking sound in cylinder head changed all the timing chains and guides. Please help I'm desperate

Hello Francois, the tapping sound you hear might be coming from a bad valve lifter, a bad camshaft lobe, a bent push rod, a broken valve spring, a broken rocker arm or the valves may need to be adjusted.

Timing belt went bad while engine was running, what's the chances in getting bent valves . I put a new one in, I got a tapping lifter. why is that?

Hows it run other then the tapper? You can not only bend a valve but you can bend push rods too. If it runs alright you may want to pull the rocker arm assembly and take out all the push rods and then roll them on a flat surface. If the roll straight then there fine but one that flip flops around needs replaced. it sounds like you got really lucky on not ruining the motor. Bent valves can do terrible things to an engine. let me know how it turns out, Please be kind for my idea. I need some good scores and just trying to help, Thanks and Good Luck, Raz

Tapping sound in my top cylinder

Unplug the spark plug wire to the cylinder that seems to be close to the noise. If after unplugging the correct cylinder if the noise stops, you have internal damage that will need repaired.

Tapping noice when the truck is running its sounds like tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap

It could be a bent valve, push-rod/s, piston slap, connecting rod bearings, bad fuel, timing, could need a tune-up,knock sensor, bad fuel, or water in fuel. You can start by looking at the vehicles repair/maintenance history, preform a dry and wet compression test, and take it from there. If I can be any more help let me know, thank you.
