Question about 1999 Acura TL

1999 Acura 3.2TL Starter issue.

When I try to crank my car up it makes a fast clicking noise. I think this may be related to the starter? Maybe the solenoid? I am unable to find info on this through google and started here. Also if this is one of these two things is it something that I can replace? (I am pretty new to car repair)

Thanks in advance.

First check the battery a dead battery will definatley do that if the battery is good check the available voltage at the starter sometimes the battery cables get corroded and unwanted resistance is a result (not enough current gettint to the starter to turn it) if either of these isnt the problem i would feel safe to say its the starter

1997 acura tl wont start and battery good

If it is the starter you will hear a click noise. Try tapping the key a few times, could be a dead spot on the starter. Also, try giving the starter a wack with a hammer. The clutch could be stuck. If not those things then maybe an ignition switch.

My acura cl 3.0 1998 wont start change the battery hear clicking noise in starter but just replaced it back in may pf this year.

The clicking noise is the starter relay, which sends power to the starter. sometimes the relay is mounted on the starter, sometimes on the fender. I would say the starter is bad and needs replaced. Sometimes you can get a bad starter from the factory. Just because its not that old, or even brand new, doesn't mean that its a good working starter. Replace that starter.

My 2005 g6 makes ONE clicking noise when I try and start it. All the lights, windows, and radio works fine. All the gauges go up and come down like normal. It just don't crank

Most likely a starter issue. Maybe try rapping on starter with a helper cranking key. Careful, make sure you're in park or neutral.

I have an Acura Cl 3.0 1999. It has drove fine sick I bought it a year ago. I drove to the gas station turned it off, filled up with gas, went to turn it back on and nothing. Only sound is two clicks from...

if it dont crank how would you say the starter is good.
you dont know that. sorry'
making assumptions is the top killer of all diagnosis.
you set in driver seat:
i key on, is the CEL ,charge and BRAKE lamps glowing
if not you lost all power ,12vdc to dash and ignition.
they must glow, if not the battery is drained or a fuse is blow.
check all fuses , now.
if all those normal lamps glow, (warnings) per the operator guide.
the good, you have 12v power.
proceed to cranking..
"as they say, Call the Auto Club time"
the first check, is called a jumper cable jump start off a running car.
if that works, then the starter is good and the battery was ONLY discharged. (no assumptions. see?)

then and only then could you say, starter is good. see?
if the car JUMP passes ,then battery bad or charge system failure....
(ask for help that topic, "my battery is drained, why?"
if the JUMP fails (to other cars battery)
we then hot wire the starter, does starter crank fast and robustly>>?
yes?, then the key line is bad.
no ?, then the starter is bad. or its 2 huge cables are bad.

YES?? starter hot wires good. then? !!!!
see the tricks here,
my guess is this car is A/T tranny, Automatic.

this page also teaches , hotwiring any starter , safely.

I recently had the problem where nothing would happen when i tried to start the car. The negative battery cable was corroded so i replaced it. The car worked great. The the same problem. The starter was sticking. After tapping on it , the car would crank. I replaced the starter for about $90 and it runs great again.

1999 Dodge intrepid tries to turn over but won't/can't. Everything turns on electronically that's supposed to, brand new battery.

clicking sound heard? starts fast then slows down as you crank over engine?ok try this --at the starter there is an electrical connection -- B+red wire and a smaller wire make sure these connections are tight. if ok proceed to next step--if you hear a low clicking sound when you turn the key and when trying to jump start the car still hear a click sound have someone tap on starter while you try to start it --- if car starts the starter solenoid is bad, anything more please write me back, Lee Davidian

02 Chevy Cavalier - Fast Clicking Noise When I Turn Key

your battery isnt holding enough charge to crank the starter.thats what the clicking is. try charging you battery for a good 8-10 hours, if it still does the same thing you'll need a new battery.

95 Acura Integra starting problem

This happened to me on a 95 Integra GSR and the entire starter did not need to be replaced, just the solenoid pieces. They get old and worn down and the plunger no longer makes a good connection with them, hence the "click". Replace the solenoid panels and sand the plunger and your good as new. You can find instructions for this on the net, just do a search for it.

95 acura integra won't start - i have lights, chimes and instrumentation - it has been making a clicking noise lately, before starting - now, nothing! can you help?

Definitely sounds like it's time to replace the starter. To verify make sure your getting 12v on the small gauge wire at the starter while trying to crank. If you have power at that wire while cranking replace the starter.

Won't start dash lights on no cranking

Does it make a "clicking" noise when you turn the key?... Try tapping the starter (or more specifically the solenoid that is attached to the starter) with something hard. It may help if you get someone else to turn the key while you tap the solenoid. That solenoid could be stuck and keeping it from cranking over. Let me know how it goes....
