Question about 2002 Mazda Protege
My wife recently bought her mother's 2002 Mazda Protege that had been in storage for about 6 months. She couldn't get it to crank, so the first thing we assumed it needed was a new battery. I bought one and hooked it up. The lights came on inside, and the little red light on top of the steering collumn was flashing rapidly. When I tried to crank it, all the lights in the instrument cluster lit up, but it still wouldn't turn. After a few seconds, all the electronics and the horn started going crazy, and they wouldn't stop until I disconnected the battery again. I tried several times with the same result. What am I doing wrong?
It sounds like the car's security system is going off. Is there a key fob to lock/unlock doors and turn on alarm? If there is, connect battery, and immediately press alarm/unlock button to turn alarm off.
I have a truck with an aftermarket alarm system installed by the previous owner, my battery died, and when I hooked up a new one the alarm went off, and it took a while before I hit the key fob button, but it stopped it. Let me know if this works for u.
