1984 ford f 150 not charging

My 1984 ford f150 is not charging the battery. Hooking a test light between the negative terminal of the battery and the negative battery clamp the light came on indicating a short so i found that the courtesy fuse was the problem. still no charge the truck has a new battery altanator and regulator i even replaced the connectors to all these so there was a good connection. The fusible link is good. the altanotor has power from the battery but nothing on the feild (fld) terminal please help me.

07 f150 drainingbattery while prked for a f ew days

Check how many Load ampere did your car consume when in stand by or key is off. use a DMM that has a 20 A DC meter. Remove the negative terminal of your car battery , test probe the battery terminal and negative wire for battery. Take the reading, if it is 1amp or more, there is something wrong with your car, if it is only around 100mA no problem, probably your battery acid is not good, or the battery it self is bad.

Battery not getting charged although the alterator is putting out.truck will run but kills battery after its been charged with a is my email.

Does it die while running? Check the voltage at the battery with the truck running to see if it is getting the same voltage that the alternator is putting out. Will it not start after sitting for a bit? It could just be a bad battery not taking a charge because the lead plates or the terminal inside the battery is broken. You may also have a drain on the battery that is discharging it. You can check for a drain by disconnecting the negative cable and hooking a test light in line between th negative battery terminal and the cable. If the test light lights up bright, there is a drain and you can start pulling fuses one at a time to see what kills the light.

I have a 1984 ford f150 with a new voltage regulator and perfectly working alternator but it charges at over 16 volts

a low battery in you meter could cause a higher reading. I've seen this before. Other than that the regulator is not working perfectly if its over charging or if you have a battery that will not hold a charge'

1984 Ford F-150 replacing the starter?

The starter is the next logical choice to swap, but make sure that you have checked all of the connections on your battery and solenoid, and that your charging system is working well enough that your battery is fully charged. If you pull on your head light switch, and then try to start the car, the lights should dim a bit, but not go out. Anyway, back to your starter. Remember to disconnect the negative terminal of your battery first. All it takes to change the starter is to disconnect the nuts that hold the wiring first, then take out the bolts tht mount the starter to the engine bell housing. Reverse the process to install, and hook up the battery terminal last....

Not charge will start with jump immediately. New alt and battery

I would suggest replacing the battery terminal ends with new ones. Cost about $5.00 a pair and make sure you tighten the terminal ends down tight.

Cannot connect the negative battery terminal without spark or starter turning over

You will need new igniton cylinder. Sounds like you have a short in the cylinder.

My battery has no power and wont take a charge

Check that a door switch is not open, or that an interior light was not switched on and left on, either at the light, or at the headlight switch.

If all your trying to charge the battery with is a trickle charger, then it can not charge the battery and light the light too.
