Question about 1985 Plymouth Reliant

Number of fan blades on radiator fan

Can you tell me how many fan blades there should be on the radiator fan of a 1985 Plymouth Reliant? The car I have only has 2, like a propeller, and I do believe that this can't be correct.

My wifes 85 plymoth reliant makes a loud grinding sound when engine is running. the sound is too bad to keep engine on for more than a second

ask a local mechanic to come and have a listen for a proper diagnostic ,its too difficult to know without hearing the sound ,unless you can record it on your phone then transfer it to computer and upload it as a video link

1985 plymouth reliant alternator over charing battery install a new alternator and its still overcharing

If the altenator is new, then it is very possible that the bad altenator may have fried the battery.
I would have y our battery tested. If you have a voltmeter, you can test altenator and battery. Part stores usually do it free.

Where is the fuse box located in my 1989 plymouth reliant. I have looked under steering column and under the hood, still cannot find the box, the radiator fan will not turn on.

for that relay/fuse it would be located likely in the fuse panel in the engine compartment. generally they are located near the battery and will have a cover on it.

My reliant K is is constantly over-heating even after 10 minutes of running time. Is that a thermostat problem?

Reliants run very hot normally, but you are definitely having a cooling problem. More than likely your thermostat is stuck in the open position. The reliant comes with a 220 degree thermostat, and what that means is that it doesn't kick in until 220 degrees before your fan goes on to cool down the radiator. It is much better to switch to a 180 degree thermostat, which will kick in sooner to cool everything down. Your Reliant also came with a single core radiator, which is also part of the cooling problem on these cars. It is a far better idea to switch to a dual core radiator. Between the 180 thermostat and the dual core radiator, your cooling problems will be a thing of the past.

Peace,

Chief

My radiator fan quit working

Does it come on when AC is turned on? For the price of a new relay, I'd try a new one, or at least look in the same area of that one for another one with same number & swap them long enough to try it.
