Install steering column,on 99ford ranger video.,,shifter broke. or pics

instead of fixing the broken column go to local salvage yard and replace the entire column it should take you about 2 hours to replace it not even that. it is too much of a hassle to fix a broken part in the column itself and the repair will not always help out in the long run.

How do i remove the ignition key tumbler

  1. Disconnect the negative cable on the battery with the 8-millimeter wrench and allow 15 minutes for the circuits to go to sleep before beginning. This will disable the SRS, or airbags.

  2. Remove the lower cover on the steering column behind the steering wheel using the Phillips screwdriver to remove the three screws. Press the two tabs on the side of the ignition switch and pull it straight off.
  3. Disconnect the ignition switch lower harness connector. This is just below the steering column or can be seen at the opposite end of the ignition harness.
  4. Install the new ignition switch by locating the switch so the tabs line up and pushing it on the tumbler. Plug in the lower portion of the electrical pigtail or harness connector.
  5. Reinstall the lower portion of the steering column cover. Reconnect the negative cable on the battery.

Lights behind the Speedometer and Tachometer are not working?

Could be the negative ground or common wire to column harness. If you have tilt steering column try different settings and then look for the broken wire. Could be a fuse and some times those are under the hood.

Key is stuck in broken ignition of 1994 Honda accord EX .How do i remove broken ignition and replace a new one .Thanks

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION 1994-95 Accord NOTE: Do not attempt to remove the ignition switch assembly if you do not have replacement bolts available. These special bolts have break-away heads which shear off when tightened. This is an "anti-theft'' measure used to prevent easy removal of the bolts. Fig. 2: Shear bolts must be used for reinstallation 86806113.gif
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and disable the SRS system.
  2. Remove the dashboard lower cover/knee bolster.
  3. Remove the steering column covers.
  4. Unplug the ignition switch connector.
  5. Remove the two nuts and two bolts securing the steering column, carefully lower the column assembly.
  6. Use a center punch to mark each of the two shear bolt heads securing the ignition switch assembly to the steering column. Use a 3?16 in. (5mm) drill bit to drill off the heads. Take care not to damage the switch when drilling.
  7. Remove the bolts. Remove the clamp and remove the ignition switch assembly.
  8. Remove the three screws securing the switch and remove the switch. To install:
  9. Make certain the recess of the switch aligns with the tab of the lock housing. Insert the switch and install the retaining screws.
  10. Position the switch assembly on the steering column. Install the new shear bolts; tighten them finger-tight.
  11. Use a wrench or socket of the correct size. Tighten the shear bolts until the heads break off.
  12. Raise the column and install the nuts/bolts. Tighten the nuts to 10 ft. lbs. (13 Nm) and the bolts to 16 ft. lbs. 22 Nm).
  13. Connect the ignition switch wiring harness.
  14. Install the column covers.
  15. Install the dashboard lower cover/knee bolster.
  16. Connect the negative battery cable. Fig. 3: Be careful not to damage surrounding components when drilling 86806114.gif

Turn signal indicator the plastic part on the inside broke switch still wrks is it repairable without taking out the steering wheel?

The Turn Signal Switch is accessed by removing the steering column plastic trim. Just a couple of screws to remove switch and unplug wire harness. Install new one by plugging wire into harness, tight screws and replace plastic trim.H ope this helps!

How do I replace the ignition switch in my 1992 explorer

hi,
Remove the steering column cover. There should be four screws. This will give you access to the column and the switch located behind the ignition lock cylinder.Unplug the wiring harness from behind the ignition switch. The wiring harness snaps into the switch.Unscrew the two screws that are holding the switch in place. The switch will lift right out.Replace with the new switch. The OEM part should fit perfectly in the same spot.Tighten the screws down to lock the new switch into place.Fasten the wiring harness to the back of the switch.
Reassemble your steering column. Tighten the screws.Crank your Ford Explorer to test if the ignition switch was definitely the problem. The truck should run smoothly with no stalls or missed cranks.

thank you for using fixya, rate my answer

Steering Columin Housing

it could be the wiring rattled loose or a nut or a screw has come loose inside the steering column, you might be able to get at it by loosening the plastic at the bottom of the dash below the steering column. or the worst thing could be something has broke loose..
