Question about 1988 Ford Mustang
Just got this 88 5.0 lx conv. The car runs perfect until it quits running. It had one owner never wrecked 5 speed. It seems to run fine until it begins to warm up then poof, dead. At that point it will not recrank. After an hour of cooling it usually will start. The complete distributor assembly/sensor, fuel filter, have been changed. Still looses fire when warm. Did find one relay on the pass. fender that had a couple baked wires. Took and heat shrinked those wires and replaced the relay.By distributor sensor I mean the gray module on the outside. This 88 is air density computerized. Please give me the magic fix! MAP sensor, bad Ign. switch? please help.
I would replace the TFI ignition module and or the stator, these are the most common issues, you didn't say whether it had a loss of spark or fuel pressure, so just going on my 20 years of Ford dealer background.
