Question about 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

2 Answers

Stalling issue I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, the truck stalls out when gas pedal is released, giving "p done code" only. All my gauges and lights work properly. When engine light comes on, it doesn't stay on. I'll start it up, let it stall out, and with the key still on, I'll get that "p done" code. Thats it.

Check for vacuum hose leak, listen for hissing sound a can a carb spray may assist you in finding this by spraying the hoses and watch for change in idle, this may not show a code if it not a constant problem. under load its ok when it tries to idle the vacuum leak will stall the motor..

I have a 2007 dodge ram 1500 two weeks ago i drove 1300 miles about a 100 miles from my end point my vehicle started stalling out it was whenever i would step on the gas it would stall the RPM's will...

low fuel pressure doesn't set a fault code nor does a clogged catalytic convertor. Dodge vehicles don't have a serviceable fuel filter, but you can do a fuel volume test when the vehicle acts up.

2001 dodge intrepid stalls when warm and i,m not in the gas pedal. Why?

there could be a couple of things causing the engine to stall, most common would be a large vacuum leak, check all vacuum hoses under the hood paying close Attn. to the large hose going to the power brake booster, but the most common thing to cause a idle stall is a idle control motor some times it is called an idle air motor.

01 dodge ram 1500 5.2 4WD code P0455 evap system leak.

This code will not stall or no start of your engine, evap only work when engine is off, it is to reduce the fume your gas tank lets out to protect the o zone, but it will not pass Emission test, also could be some thing a small as your gas cap not sealing right.

'03 Dakota stalls when shifting out of reverse

Drop the evap cans and replace the hoses on top. I have a 2001 with the 5.9 with similar issue. the cans on mine are passenger side outside frame rail in front of rear tire. also replaced a couple hoses in line on top of passenger side fender under the hood. One short hose on the front of the throttle body under the air filter. Spent $10-$12 at autozone with hose left over. The long plastic hoses on mine looked like they had already been replaced.

Will not stay running at idle (stalls)

There should be an AIS automatic idle speed motor mounted on the side of your throttle body across from or near your throttle linkage, or in that area. Usually held on with 2 torx screws. That regulates your idle up & down as needed depending on load situations on the engine, so that it doesn't stall out. Quite often they get gummed up or become defective and cause stalling. Before spending money on parts etc, (by the way, I'm told autozone will scan it free of charge for codes) I would get a spray can of throttle body cleaner, remove the AIS motor & clean the plunger & tip real good, and also spray some cleaner into the port that you removed it from, rub a little vaseline on the "O" ring at the seal of AIS motor before you re-install, and put it back in, tighten up the screws & give it a try. If it cures it great, but if it acts same shortly after running good for a while, buy new & replace. A lot of the time, this thing does not show a fault code in the computer, so it gets overlooked. Keep us posted
