It is not the vacuum modulator, it might be the vehicle speed (VSS) sensor, this is where the powertrain control module get it's signal to shift into overdrive.

when was the last time the tranny had a new filter put in with new fluid? if the vacuum module was bad, it would suck all the tranny fluid out of the tranny and into the engine from vacuum and you would be smoking out the tail pipe..

Transmission hesitates shifting to second and keeps downshifting from overdrive too quickly

Check the vacuum modulator and the hose going to it. Also check for vacuum leaks on or around the engine. Have you checked the fluid level or changed the fluid in the transmission? How about the throttle position sensor? (if it has one).

Your transmission is toast. Smell the fluid on your ****** dipstick. It will smell really burnt.

The transmission slips in and out of overdrive too much and shifts a little rough, but only in overdrive

Check the fluid level of the transmission. Also if you haven't done so in the last 30k miles change the transmission filter/fluid and pan gasket.

it sounds like the transmission is in limp mode this happen when the transmission modules finds a problem in the transmission. If you drive to long like this the oil heats and more damage is done

Transmission wont shift

check the kickdown/throttle valve cable. It may be bound up and stuck in the maximum position giving you extremely late shifts.

There ISN"T any modulators or vac lines on any Chrysler automatics
