Question about 2002 Chevrolet Impala

1 Answer

'02 Impala. Blower is only working occasionally.

Blower comes on and off and when it goes off my rear defrost won't work and my cruise light on dash comes on when it is in off position. Sometimes it will run when I start the car and other times it kicks on and off with no consistency.

Things to check:
  1. Fuse;
  2. Operation of actuator switch;
  3. Connections to cruise control unit under hood;
  4. Brake pedal switch (common problem)

Cruise control doesnt work the light doesnt even come on

Fuses are a great place to start, if not fuses the actual cruise control switch may be to fault. Rear heater do you get heat out the front and if so is there a fuse for a rear fan maybe a blower.. Let me know

Defrost just one side works

When you say defrost doesn't work, are meaning the blower or thermal defroster? If its the thermal defroster for the rear window this could be a fuse or the element has probably either stopped working or has come unglued from the window itself. This is a common problem. If its the blower for the front windshield defroster then it could very well be the actuator inside the dash that has malfunctioned and not opening when the selector is set at desired direction of circulation.

NO REAR WINDOW DEFROST

First thing to do is test these fuses with a tester light. Check the A/C cruise control fuse 10 amp (left side of dash in panel), heated mirror fuse 10 amp (right side of dash in panel), this is also where you will find the circuit breaker and relay for the rear defroster. Test the breaker for power in and out. Feel the relay to see if it clicks when you turn on the rear defrost

My heater only work on high and will not blow out defrost

IF THE BLOWER MOTOR ONLY WORKS PN HIGH THEN YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR LOCATED ON THE SAME HEATER BOX AS THE BLOWER MOTOR
