I have a 1997 sunfire I recently replaced the ignition and starter box but this morning went 2 start it and it wouldnt start it will crank but its not getting any spark the fuel pumps not kicking in or...

GM vehicles are equipped with an anti theft system. There are several parts that must communicate properly for their system to work. When they don't communicate, it will either shut off the starter or injectors. You may have had this problem and mis diagnosed it as ignition or starter. Also after changing the ignition this may have interrupted the system also. Look for a light on the dash that says "security". if you see this light, then this is the problem. I've had great luck in just bypassing this system entirely. Read about it on this page.plus some "do it yourself" fixes. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

Recently changed water pump and thermostat. now won't start. anti-theft light on. all other electonics work. can it be reset?

This problem is completely unrelated to the work you have just done. I think its just bad luck. Read this link. It explains the situation really well. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

Turn the key on, Leave the key on for 10 minutes until the theft light goes out. Turn the key off. Then it should start the next time you turn the key.

Car won't start - anti-theft light flashing

it sounds like the immobilizer is faulty. this will shut off the electrical feed to the starter motor. you will need to take it to a garage to get this fixed.

hope this helps.

Will not start theft light on and brakes stiff

I THINK this works on the sunfire too. It will not cost you anything to try! Put the key in the driver side door and lock and unlock it 5 times then try to start it. That unlocks many of the newer cars.
