I have exactly the same problem. If it is cold outside, or I haven't driven my car for a day, the car will not start properly. I have to pump the gas a little to get it started....then for the remainder of the day, it is fine. I have it in the shop right now as I write this, they replaced some spark plugs and the mechanic called me saying that the engine is still starting hard this morning.

It is not good to use the remote start every time you start the car, this can cause some major damage to the starter, i suggest replacing the starter and then telling her to start the car manually unless absolutly needed to use the keypad.

remote start is made to use once daily in the morning, so your not gettitng in a cold car, not for eccesive use.

My Nissan altima 2003 won't start but I smell fuel what could that be

Open the throttle all the way when starting. To much fuel is fouling out the spark plugs. If it still doesn't start check for spark, if its there, replace the plugs.

My 02' Nissan altima stalls when its cold. But

It is probably the "cold start" cycle. A Temperature sensor will send a signal to the computer in order to make the fuel charge rich and change the timing. This will last less than 3 minutes on many cars.

The process is similar to the old "choke" system adding a timing change to the rich fuel mix. Many cars have 2 Temperature sensors and for those you want to change the one that does NOT work the dash gauge or light. The sensor you want is dedicated to providing temperature info to the computer.

Please rate my info.

Won,t start after sitting for a short time, but will start fine when cold

Does it crank, yet not start? Or does it not even crank?
If it cranks and doesn't start, you could have a leaky fuel injector. Pull the plugs when this happens, and check them for fuel saturation.

If it doesn't even crank, it could be an intermittent starter.

I have a 2003 Nissan 2.5L Altima. Out of the clear blue, yesterday when i went to start it, it was very slow in turning over, the battery is only two years old and seems to be fine. Once the car is started...

this is a battry problem you can charge the battery long a nuff to start after motor is running but you have a dead seal i would recommend wall mart best price and warrenty if you replace the battery with there 2 yr warrenty with-in the 2 yrs you will never hafe to but a nother battery for the life of the vehicle////// if this is not your problem i would say your coil pack is cracked

1993 Nissan Altima will crank but won't start - sometimes - altitude issues?

The system is not affected by altitude in this way, the thing you need to check is fuel pressure, this may be pump related.

Oh come on now. Mardavis, assuming you have a fuel injection system, you have what is known as a cold start valve. It seves the same purpose as a choke. It is computer contoled and upon cranking the computer fires a small injector which gives the engine a rich shot of fuel. If the cold start valve, also know as the 5th injector, guess what, it won't start.

Now, if by some reason your nissian still has a carb, it is close toa cut off, then you have a choke problem. Meaning your linkage is sticking and your high step cam is not being set.
Just thought you might wanta know.
