My car has a similar problem. When it gets cold (around freezing) it has trouble starting up. It will usually start up for a second or two and then sputter out, though. It never has trouble starting when the engine is warm. I thought it might be the fuel filter or pump...

I would check the cold start valve. It is also known as the fifth injector. It injects a small amount of fuel only during cold weather. Also might be called an enrichment valve. The same a s a choke on carb. models.

No power to fuel pump

Check the fuse 1st, then change the fuel pump relay with another relay the same but something like headlight relay or something that won't stop the car from working. Check for power at pump while the key is turned by someone else to the on posision & while cranking, some vehicles run fuel pump power through alternator circuit so will only get power while cranking & drive belt on

2002 saturn sl won't start, turn over but won't start

If the engine fires up for a second or two with starting fluid then the fuel pump is weak.I would check the fuel pressure and if its not within the specs then replace the pump and filter.

Engine cranks but wont start.

You'll want to start by checking the fuel pump. Turn on the ignition and listen if you can hear the fuel pump working. If nothing, check fuses & relay for the fuel pump.

My car died when driving.....changed my fuel filter and it didnt help. the fuel pump kicks on so I know that it's ok...spark plugs are ok....what else can i check

the smart way would be to take to a shop which has a diagnostic analyzer to hook to it. if you just want to replace parts assuming you will eventually find the bad one, I suggest the ignition module which is under the coils, then the crank sensor which is behind the starter. if it starts and dies then do the sensor first.

I have 1998 saturn sl 2 car starts after 5 or 6

Spray ether into the air intake and see if it still takes 5 or 6 cranks...if it starts immediately, it is fuel related, perhaps fuel presure regulator is bad. If the ether doesn't change anything...it is most likely a cam sensor...good luck!

Have saturn sli 1999- hard starting- replaced temp sensor and put in two fuel pumps- still cranks 5 t0 8 times before starting. dealer says could only be fuel pump, but that has been changed (bosch) oem...

A bad check valve in the fuel pump assembly will do that, but shouldn't if you replaced the whole assembly. If you replaced only the pump itself, they may be right. The other possibility is that the fuel pressure regulator is bleeding off the pressure.
