Xenon headlights 330 XI don't ''adjust'' when car is turned on

I have a 2001 330XI with xenon headlights that seem to point down to the ground rather than out ahead. They no longer "adjust " (go up and down) either when the car is turned on. What can I do??

The daylight driving lights do go up and down, but the mail beams do not. They do not turn when the steering wheel is turned. Shouldn't they?

SOURCE: hi can you help i have a 2004 mondeo st tdci

Hi,

Look for a dial control (near your headlamp switch) and see if you can adjust it back to "0" position.

If there is no dial or headlamp adjustment control, then you will need to take the vehicle to a local garage that has the correct Optical machine and they can align the headlights correctly, for a small fee.

Note: correct headlight aim is a requirement for most countries, before a Warrant of Fitness is issued.

Cheers,

Just a thought, behind the front bumper are the securing hardware. Bumper needs to be removed so you can access the fasteners.

In my CX-9 on the left side of the drivers dash, below the steering wheel, there is a little adjustment wheel for headlight up and down adjustments. I believe it has 3 or 4 positions. Check out the video at 1:13 mins in.

Headlights wont turn off automatically

I think you can try a hid light, because of xenon lamp no filament, so won't produce for filament broken and discard of the problem, the service life is much longer than halogen lamps, hid xenon lamp life is equivalent to the average car use cycle of the whole running time.

How to replace driverside headlight replacement

I don't know how to replace the headlight replacement, but I can tell you how to replace the bulbs if that is what you want to know. It all depends on if your vehicle is equipped with halogen or xenon bulbs. I am posting instructions for both.

1. Turn the headlamp bulb plastic cap counterclockwise to unlock and remove it
2. Turn the bulb socket counterclockwise to unlock and remove it (xenon)
3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the bulb terminals (halogen)
4. Unlock the retaining springs and remove the bulb
5. Release the ignitor and remove from the plastic cap (xenon)
6. Turn the high beam lamp socket counterclockwise to unlock and remove it.
Installation is the reverse order of removal.

Headlights aren't bright enough at night

Don't change to HID Xenon or Bi-Xenon unless you change the entire headlight unit, as your standard headlamp units are not designed for this. You will only end up blinding oncoming traffic, and your beam scatter will be all over the place.

Take your car to a servicing garage or dealer and ask them to check the headlight alignment. If you are still unhappy with the headlight performance, there are plenty of quality halogen bulbs out there - just look at the Philips or Osram automotive range.
