Right hand side rear cargo area under the trim panel under the side glass, many of the electronics are under that panel.

Passenger side, under that long trim panel (really huge panel) that covers the wheel house.

How do i get my entrey code for the doors

Hi Joe:
You can use the keyless entry keypad to Lock or unlock the doors without using a key.
Open the liftgate window. Activate or deactivate the autolock feature.

This code is located on the owner's wallet card in the glove box, is available from your authorized dealer via scan code or is marked on the computer module.

Computer Module location
1995 thru 2001 is located in the jack storage compartment in the rear of your Explorer. First remove the panel to the jack storage compartment. Towards the front of this area you should see a metal box this is your auto-lock module (way up front next to your rear left passenger seat - Image 01). On the back side of this is your 5 digit code factory preset code (Image 02). It is hard to get to. To see it you will have to loosen, pull, use a flashlight or a mirror but it can be done.

2001 ford explorer sport, door keypad reset

How to find the Security Keyless Keypad Code on the 1995-2001 Ford Explorer or Mountaineer and how to use the Keypad functions. The factory code is also printed on a label which is installed on the Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) Module. This is the module that controls the keyless entry system. It is located in the left rear quarter behind the removable panel (see photo). You will need to turn the two thumb screws counter clockwise and take the plastic panel off to be able to see the unit. A flashlight may be helpful in seeing the code. You are looking for the module and the 5 digit code on it like the one shown below.

Now that you’ve got the code I’ll tell you how to use the Keyless entry and set-up your own code.Make sure when pressing the controls on the keyless entry keypad you press the middle of the buttons to ensure good contact with the controls.

2001 EXPLORER SPORT

The older Ford Explorers have the KE module behind the trim panel, drivers side, rear. Open the little access panel to get to the jack. Look (with a flashlight) forward behind the panel and you will see a small black plastic box (keyless entry module), I think mine was about (8"X6"), there is a sticker on it that has the original factory code. YOu might be abel to see it but will probably need ot remove a couplr of phillips screws and plastic retainer clips to pull he lanel out a bit.No matter what the code is changed to, that default will always work. I had to partially remove the whole panel in order to read mine, just a few screws though.
I found reprogramming instructiions by searching Google, that way you can have your own code and the default still works as a back up.
