Both rear wheels lock up after driving and getting hot.

replace that caliper! and check if that hose to it is good as well by bleeding the system afterwards

sometimes, also, check to see if the parking brake mechanism on both sides are working too because you said BOTH rear wheels are locking up

now you'll either need to scuff up the new pads and rotors to "deglaze" them after you repair the broken caliper

1997 ford f150 2wd, anti lock rear. I replaced brake pads on both frt. Now one side is dragging. Wheel bearings seem to be ok - no slack. Would my rotor be warped, causing the heat up? Also - all I seem to...

the brake drag could be caused by a brake caliper sticking and not releasing, which means replace both calipers and bleed system, as usually when one goes bad the other is not far behind. another thing is if a brake flex hose has collapsed internally it won`t allow the caliper to be released completely. the name for the bearing is called inner wheel bearing. as far as the rotors if they haven`t been changed or turned and have heated up enough that you could smell brake material then change them in pairs.

86 honda wagovan right rear wheel locked up

Not sure about the advice above...If your experiencing a rear wheel locking up, I've seen where the emergency brake cable is not releasing and is stuck. Best bet is to have someone operate the E-brake while you watch the cable underneath the car on the right side. If you don't see the cable retracting, clamp a pair of vice grips tightly onto the cable (away from where it could retract into the sheath) and tap the vice grips "away" from the wheel. This will "persuade" the cable to retract, therefore releasing the emergency brake. If that's it, don't use the emergency brake until you either lube it real well or replace it. Good luck!

Right rear wheel will not turn 2004 xl7 susuki

This car ABS, if yes, try posting that, as i will answer for NO.
NO = short and easy. ABS = hard. (read the FSM , and see)
find a real shop with the ASE sigh,
never go there again. your dealer, he is bad for your health and others.
yes, my same bearing failed on my 04 but i found it with an electronic stethoscope (sonic ear) in 5min and did it early before brake damage.
locking brakes are very very bad , you need to find this fast.
he sounds incompetent.
if the Right rear is locked, the mech, loosens the bleed fitting
if it unlocks the MC is failing,(non ABS). mine is non ABS too.
if a new mc is installed and the rear piston clearance is not set
the MC will LOCK THE WHOLE SYSTEM up. or 1 end.
if the brake didnt release above, that means (gee simple) the brake neat
is locked. (bad bearing or wet soaked brakes or the parts assembled
ALL WRONG here.
puddle on floor, is it DOT3/4 fluid or GL4 gear lube.
surly you can tell the diffr, between them.> no?
if fuild that is wheel cylinder failure.
did you use non DOT/3/4 fluid, you must not use dot 5 or the seals will fail FAST,.....
using jiffyboobs? dont/

Rear brake sticking

Your saying as you drive it locks and skids? You say as you try to pull out the wheel is shuck and it won't turn? Or your saying that you detect that the wheel is dragging and the wheel turns fine? Is the other rear wheel sticking? The parking brake pedal is it all the way up? With the pedal up are the parking braek cables under the truck going to rear wheels tight or taugt but moving or slack and hanging. As this cable enters the hosing going to the rear wheel about an inch from the housing ( cable Housing ) clamp on a pair of vise grips or other locking pliers and hit them with a hammer towards the rear wheel. As your trying to make the cable go back as much as it's going to. Check both sides as it's possible that thier frozen in the cold weather. It's wise to avoid using the parking break in cold weather as they get mositure in them over time and with them frozen on the brake wil stick. If you find the cables slack with the pedal released and beating them back towards the wheel does'nt seem to be releasing the break you may need to heat the cable with a tourch to free them. The other answer is the rear break came aprt someway and the break shoes are bound up against the drum. The wheel bearing is possible too unless you can tell is the break.

YOU NEED TO ADJUST REAR PARKING BRAKE AT THE LEVER.FIRST OF ALL YOU NEED TO BLOCK FRONT WHEELS.THEN RAISE THE REAR OF THE VECHICLE.SUPPORT WITH JACK STANDS.MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON HARD LEVEL SOLID GROUND WHEN USING JACK STANDS.AFTER RAISING THE CAR SET PARKING BRAKE 1 CLICK TOWARD ENGAGEMENT.REMOVE FLOOR CONSOLE.TIGHTEN THE ADJUSTING NUT UNTIL THE PARKING BRAKES DRAG SLIGHTLY WHEN THE REAR WHEELS ARE TURNED.RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE COMPLETELY.CHECK IG PARKING BRAKES DRAG WHEN REAR WHEELS ARE TURNED.READJUST IT NECESSARY UNTIL THERE IS NO BRAKE DRAG FROM THE PARKING BRAKES.

After driving about 3-5 miles, the right rear brake locks up. If you sit with the car off for about 5 minutes, it will release but after driving again, it'll lock up again.

it appears that the brake is dragging (always on) ....when you drive it, it''ll grab harder due to getting hot, how long ago were the bks done? other wheel bks may be stuck on a little too....good luck

R/h rear brake locks up

Does it lock when cold (when 1st driven for the day) or after driving for a while? Pull off the wheel and drum and check for evidence of brake fluid (a leaking brake cylinder) or grease (a bad axle grease seal), either of these can cause the brakes to 'grab' or lock up. If this is what you find, you need to correct the leak problem and replace the brake shoes, which have become contaminated with the fluid. You should always change both rear or front brakes together for the best performance. Also check to make sure the springs and other hardware have not broken or become detached from their mounting positions. After driving for a while, carefully touch the wheel where the lug nuts are to see if that wheel is hotter to touch than the others. If it is, the brakes are 'dragging', not releasing completely as you drive, and heating up. This will also cause them to 'grab' or lock up. If this is the case, back off on the adjuster to see if that solves the problem, but more likely, it is a bad brake cylinder (corrosion inside the brake cylinder) which is causing it to hang up, and not release when you take your foot off the brake. If this is the problem, replace the brake cylinder at the rear wheel, and flush out the brake lines to avoid a similar problem in the near future with the other wheels. If the wheel was overheating due to the problem, you also need to replace the brake hardware(springs do not work properly when severely overheated).
