Question about 2003 Toyota Camry
Car would not start and replaced battery. Car will start after letting sit for several hours and want to know how I can eliminate starter or fuel pump as being the problem without changing both.
You are quite welcome. That is what FixYa is all about. Helping poeple such as youself. Now that you have told me that tapping on the starter makes a difference, It is my opinion that you do indeed have a starter issue. You have 2 options: First, you could take the starter off, and replace the solenoid and replace the worn internal contacts. This is the lesser cost option. The contact wear issue is a very common failure; I change contacts in starters 2-3 times a week. The second option is to replace the starter. If you want to go the contacts route, post back to me for detailed information.
