Question about 2000 Lincoln LS

Heater doesn't work

According to dealer, the vehicle needs a dual coolant control valve and an aux coolant pump. I want to install the parts, but cannot find a Chiltons type book to locate the parts or give any repair procedures.

    Good news- The heater no longer needs repairs.

    Bad news- Engine blown

I changed the thermostat but it still does not heat up what else could be wrong

Heater needs Heater Core, Heater control valve, air diverter inside the car and hot water in the heater core. If you just change the thermostat you must have had a reason. If the car was running hot it could be a radiator clog. If the core is clogged no heat. If the heater core was drained when you changed the Tstat there may be air in it - if so no heat. If the control valve (on the heater hose) does not shift- no heat. If the diverter door in under the dash does not direct the fan air through the heater core- no heat.

Heater not operating properly

there are a few things that could be wrong here so lets see if we can help you out answers to these questions are important 1.was the car overheating? yes/no 2.does the fan operate when you turn on the heater from low/high? yes/no you smell antifreeze our is there a leak that can be seen on the engine/on the ground/inside the passenger area ? yes/no 4.did you check the fuses for all components related to the heater A. Automatic temperature control/fan motor B. Does this only happen when you are accelerating? ex. all fan/heater force disappears and comes back when you let up on the gas peddle/or the engine RPM stabilizes Al Diggs maybe right here this is possible, but we all need a little more specifics on when this is happening, so a better description of what exactly is happening will help us help you and stop you from spending more $$$ without proper results so PLEASE CHECK ALL ITEMS LISTED HERE A. are you losing coolant B. do you hear a hissing noise in the passenger or engine compartment C. Hi,i have golf mk3 1.8 1993, and i have no hot air in cabin? i change radiator pump coolant temp. sensor,fan sensor,heater engine blow air cold,i have only a bit worm air after driving 12 miles disstance?...

It sounds like a heater cord problem .The heater cord is basiclly a small radiator on the inside of the cabin .On older vehicles sediment tends to fill it up so less coolant can flow through it their for less heat can transfer from the engine witch is the source of the heat into the cabin .Some vehicles also have a gate valve or ball valve that turns and shuts off the coolant flow the from the water pump witch drives the coolant every ware it needs to be in the entire system your control inside the cabin opens and closes this valve to let coolant into the heater core if you even have this valve .The best way to tell if the heater core is flowing is to warn the vehicle up to operating temp look for the 5/8 heater hoses going to the left side of the fire wall there will be 2 of them 1 is in 1 is out .One side should be much cooler with the heat on full if not its the core or the valve if you have one .

My heater isn't do i fix it?

Here's a list of possible culprits:

Priority Action Part Type Cause
1 Inspect - Antifreeze Needed - Coolant Level Low.
2 Inspect - Heater Control Valve - Leaking or Faulty Heater Control Valve.
3 Inspect - Thermostat - Thermostat Stuck Open.

First thing to check is your engine coolant level - quick and free.
Since your blower works, my nominee for the offending part would be the Heater Control Valve, which redirects hot coolant into the passenger compartment heater core. Without hot coolant, the blower will just blow cold air, since the heater core isn't getting the needed flow of hot coolant through it.
There may also be a fault in the "Temperature Valve Actuators" (there is a right hand and a left hand version of these - one for each side of the car).
The Right hand Temperature Valve Actuator is AC Delco part #15-72971.
The Left hand Temperature Valve Actuator is AC Delco part #15-72972.

Just back from Ford Lincoln dealer, they advise my 2004 Lincoln V8 LS airconditoner needs a new control valve. How would I install it?

I have the same car & all the factory manuals

Your going to have to be more specific on the
name of the part

Dual Coolant Control Valve -- not part of the A/C
but does fail eventually

You can see it down a little under the A/C
Receiver Drier

It has 3 spring hoses clamps & 1 screw holding
it on

The problem ---you can't get your hands in there

I watched a tech at a lincoln dealer doing one
Didn't look easy

Will my coolant not circulate if my heater core is out? If my heater doesnt work does that mean the heater core is out?

change out your thermostat, heater core will leak inside of car if damaged and another thing the water pump is what circulates the coolant thru out engine

No heat

First check to make sure you have enough coolant in your system. If you so, has your car's engine been running at its normal temperature according to its gauge? If it has, then you most likely have an issue with your heater core valve. If your heater fan turns on, and the engine is warm, but cold air comes out the vents, then you might not be getting any hot coolant to your heater core. There is valve that controls the amount of hot water that flows through your heater core. It is controlled by your heater controls. On other chrysler made vehicles, these are often vacuum controlled valves. You can locate the valve under the hood by following the heater hoses that pass through the firewall (not to be confused with the AC hoses). The heater hoses are low pressure, and will use simple hose clamps. The valve in question is where you will find four of these heater hoses all coming together, along with a small vacuum line. You can check for vacuum to the valve by pulling the line with the car running, and have someone turn the heater from hot to cold and back while you check for suction at the end of the line. If it seems to work, put it back on the valve and see if the valve operates properly. If you have vacuum, and the valve does not operate, then its actuator likely has a bad diaphragm and will need replaced.

How to install dec heater control valve

First- only my personal opinion,although I just read an article about all types of product insurance & warrantees.
You really don't need any type of warrantee, on any product
If it is new,it should be good for a while
It it is used,you already got a discount,don't give some of that back.

Not to be hurtful,but a car dealer, is not in the vehicle business. They are in marketing and sales. The vehicles are the financial instuments they peddle.
If you really read your warrantee and asked the correct questions,they would politely escort you out the door. I"ve been there.

I own the same 2004LS V8 and have all the service manuals

You would need to know the correct name of the part and a call to the dealer parts dept, they would get you the price. I could do that for you,if I knew what was really happening with the vehicle. $600..00 is a lot, but that's what they charge.

What I see is called-Dual Coolant Control Valve
It is fastened to the pass side of the radiator/fan shroud with one screw.
It has two heater hoses and one electrical connector going to it.
You will see it under the A/C drier.

Not a fun job,but you could replace yourself.

Would the heater control valve malfunctioning make the engine overheat blowing hot air out the heater one moment,then not blowing the hot air, temp gage spikes 225 plus. The motor takes awhile to heat up...

Heater control valve malfunction will not cause engine to overheat unless coolant is leaking externally...Overheating going down the road can be the result of a few different things...Partly clogged radiator...Insufficient air flow due to possible fan problem...External coolant leak...Make sure fans are operting properly and have cooling system pressure tested for leaks...Gaining and losing heat on the inside of the vehicle usually means system is low on coolant but you must find out where coolant is going
