You don't have to use ceramic brake pads (unless they are original equipment) but they function better by causing less frictional heat. OEM grade pads should work ok.

My 2005 cts Cadillac brake ligh, abs and traction light stay on

One of the wheel speed sensors is malfunctioning and will need to be replaced.
This video shows the replacement of an entire hub assembly on a 2010 Cadillac CTS. Yours will be close to the same. You can try to replace just the sensor first but sometimes you might as well just replace the whole hub assembly. If you take it to someone who can read the computer, it will tell them and you which wheel(s) have the fault.

My brake lights are off in my 2005 Cadillac CTS. Jiffy Lube says only the Dealer can change. Is he right?

stay away from dealers at all cost because it will cost you out the a--. sounds like the brake light switch usually connected to the brakepedal autozone can usually tell you where a part is located.

Scheduled Maintenance

Best bet is to consult your owners' manual, however, there is one thing to expect to come up soon that won't be mentioned there. Delco alternators usually croak at about 62-65,000 miles like clockwork. Be prepared for it.

I have a 2005 Cadillac CTS. Both my brake lights went out and don't work. Turn signal works. Could it be my brake actuator that isn't working or something else? thank you

Check the fuse and see if it isn't blown, if it is good, check the brake switch, it's near the top of the brake pedal on the back side.
