Question about 2004 Ford Freestar
I go to pump and it won't let me pump and then it goes awhile and spits or gushes gas back at me. I have never had this problem with other vehicles.
I've had the same problem with my 2004 freestar. There is a canister filter and possibly a vacuum pump located under the body on the driver's side in front of the rear tire. This catches the gas vapors, etc. when you fill the tank. I don't know exactly how it works, but there are three rubber hoses coming off it. You can try blowing them out with compressed air. Be careful because one goes to the fuel tank and you will see the tank expand. This fixed mine the first time. The second time it didn't, so I just unhooked one of the hoses, and it's worked fine since. I don't know if this is a good solution or not

I'd start a lawsuit against ford. Thats pretty dangerous!
You can at least talk to the dealer and have them look at it or something.
